If you put Chrissie Hynde, Pat Benatar and Alanis Morissette in a blender, add a modern pop twist, and a hint of spice, you’d get two things; a big bloody mess and Lindsay Robins. Singer-songwriter Lindsay Robins first made an impact on music fans across Canada with “What Would You Doâ€, the theme song to the highly successful “Much Music VJ Search†reality television series. The song was given high rotation on Much Music and went on to appear on several compilation discs. It was also recognized internationally as “best theme song†in the 2007 Promax awards. This catapulted the young Montreal native’s career and she never looked back.
Born December 18, 1986, Lindsay’s musical seeds were planted early on. Her mother was a wedding singer, and by the age of 6, Lindsay was filling in and trying to get as much stage time as possible. By the age of 12, Lindsay was playing both guitar and piano and started to write songs of her own. Determined to spend her life making music, Lindsay cut a demo, which caught the attention of acclaimed songwriter Christopher Ward (the writer responsible for Alannah Myles’ massively successful “Black Velvetâ€, as well as numerous hit songs for Hilary Duff, Amanda Marshall, Diana Ross, etc.). From this collaboration came her full-length debut album “Dirty Chemistry, which was released in 2006.
This quirky, blue-eyed girl has shared the stage with the likes of Simple Plan, Mobile, Jonas and Canadian Idol winner Eva Avila. She has written and performed songs for the internationally syndicated television series “Instant Star†and also appears on the show’s latest soundtrack. Now, Lindsay is teaming up once again with Christopher Ward, as well as working along side Mark Mackoway (guitarist of Moist), Josh Trager (of The Sam Roberts Band), producer Ed Krautner (Sum 41, Avril Lavigne), Pete Lesperance and James Robertson, with the goal of bringing real singing and real songwriting back to pop music.
