Patience is a Virtue.

About Me

I'm a plant dork! I live and breath Horticulture. All aspects fascinate me - Plant production, propagation, landscape design, installation, construction, and my favorite - Fine gardening and maintenance. Most people have no idea what "fine gardening is" so this is my definition. I'm a supplement to someones garden. If their unhappy with their mow-blow gardeners I come in and do all the specialty pruning, soil amendments, transplanting, pest management, fertilizing and the like while they keep the other guys for pick-up, mowing and weeding. I get paid for my knowledge. I do a lot with very little. My goal is to give people healthy beautiful landscapes without negatively effecting the environment. ----Warning this is a rant =)----- Synthetic fertilizer runoff is a huge problem here in the bay area. Everyone has to have that damn green lawn. Turf loves Nitrogen and it needs alot to look good. The typically gardener tosses a huge amount high nitrogen fert on the turf and then irrigates. (I have yet to find the perfect lawn where theres no run off into the sewer systems. ) As the water goes into the sewer it takes with it the fertilizer and that need goes into our bay. Any non native aquatic plant will greatly enjoy the extra nitrogen- which induces new growth in a plant- and eventually takes over and chokes out the native plants. It's also effecting a small fish that to most people would seem insignificant but its a vital food source the rest of the food chain. And the over use of Round-up (and other pesticides and herbicides) on lawns, also runs off into the bay. They cause a lot of problems, mainly mutation of offspring, which is lowering the populations toward extinction.I'm extremely passionate about my goals and dreams. I want to make a difference by educating anyone who cares and also my clients.----I may not change the world but I'm going to make a big ass dent trying!
