Her exotic name comes from her Maya roots. As a singer-songwriter she distinguishes herself among other artist by her powerful voice and her talent for make music and play various musical instruments. She began playing at the age of eleven years old her natal Guadalajara (Jalisco) Mexico. At the age of 14 she participate in some acting and singing at a local production of the acclaimed theater play Grease. Years later, she studied Music, Theatre and Communications in the University of Puerto Rico. She graduated Magna Cum Laude.There, she integrated as a singer in the jazz ensamble directed by the known composer and music artist William Cepeda. In 2006 PASTE MAGAZINE choose Itzahyana to be feature in an international promotion of best independent music at Coca Cola official global website.
