Keep on rockin' in the free world

About Me

I started my first business when I was 22. I have been happily self-employed ever since!!!
Music has always been a hobby, but it's becoming so much more. I'm in the process of launching an indie record label, with the focus on signing and promoting bands that are based in the Pacific Northwest. I am also building a small studio in my house and plan to spend a lot more time working on my own writing and recording projects.
I enjoy doing a lot of things. I especially like travelling and doing things outdoors. I like hiking, hang gliding, snorkel/scuba diving, and rock climbing. I like the moutains, the ocean, volcanos, rivers, and everything that nature has to offer in between. I should have my pilot's license and my own plane by the end of the year, which will make it much easier -- and more fun -- to travel to my favorite vacation and adventure spots!
I'm especially interested in meeting other musicians, song writers, engineers, producers, music industry execs, indie label and studio owners, etc. But if we have other common interests, I'd love to hear from you!
2005 Bretty Awards
While just about everyone else in the world was enthralled in the Grammy drama of Kelly Clarkson vs. Mariah Carey, I realized that neither earned a spot on my iPod playlist. So I decided to have my own Grammy Bretty Awards to spotlight the Portland artists that brought me the most listening pleasure over the last year.

My Interests

The magic is in the fingers...

I play rock and I climb rock.

I like baseball, hot dogs, apple pie, and fireworks on the 4th of July...

I'd like to meet:

Musicians and non-musicians...

Music:

I mostly listen to rock, but I have studied jazz and classical...

Check out my Friends for local Portland bands and musicians that I follow. There's a lot of talented people here in Portland!

Movies:

I love movies... the rainy Portland winters serve their purpose: I get to catch up on some of the movies I've missed while outside playing all summer.

Television:

No thanks... except football

Books:

Classic literature, history, philosophy, psychology, spirituality, popular fiction (John Grisham, Anne Rice, Michael Crichton, John Le Carre, Dan Brown, Michael Connelly, Stephen King, etc.)

Right now I'm reading Blood Canticle by Anne Rice, State of Fear by Michael Crichton, High Performance Nutrition by Susan Kleiner, and The Passion of Jesus Christ by John Piper.

Heroes:

God

Abraham Lincoln

John Lennon

R2-D2

God made women. I like women. God is cool.

I heard Abraham Lincoln was dead, but I found him on MySpace! Abe is a cool rock climbing partner... he's tall enough to clip the first bolt at Smith.

John Lennon said "all you need is love." Right on.

R2-D2 makes the best grilled cheese sandwiches.
