Yes, I am the Former Member of Burufunk...
Hello all! Life has taken a sharp turn to the right and things are ever changing around me. Most of you probably know me best from being apart of Burufunk for the last 4 years. We have taken a slight detour musically/personally and have decided to take our individual paths. All music written by Burufunk from 2002-2005 was shared music between the both of us. All music from 2006 on will be seperately written. Thank you for all your support over the years and I hope you will continue to follow both of us on our solo journeys.
About me...I'm a mom, elementary music teacher, vocalist, and music artist. I love taking pictures, cleaning, coloring my hair, chilling on the computer, and being a nerd. I love teaching my kids at school and love my choir. My daughter,Madison, is my world. Through thick and thin we have each other.
VOCALS

EDUCATION
NOMINATED: TEACHER OF THE YEAR 2007!!!
I got my bachelors degree in '03 in music. I was a vocal major at TWU. I went back for 2 years and got my all-level teacher certification to teach music. I chose elementary music because I have a strong passion for teaching kids to compose/read/love music. I have my kids sightreading middle school repetoire! Ha..i love my job. I have a 4th & 5th grade choir going 112 strong! Biggest in the district. I teach piano lessons, recorders, and next year i'm starting a drum core at my school. I like to be hardcore and stretch myself. They are well worth it.
PHILOSOPHY
I base my teaching on the Hungarian Composer, Zoltan Kodaly. Kodaly believed that music is meant to develop one's entire being-personality, intellect and emotions. He said, "Music is a spiritual food for everybody. So I studied how to make more people accessible to good music." (Kodaly, 1966) Kodaly realized this was part of everyone's basic heritage and was necessary for human development and should be started at as early an age as possible. Teaching music is a beautiful thing and I'm just so lucky- its my job! I study at UNT during the summers to further my knowledge in the early eductation of composition, sightreading, and overall methods to reach young musicians. My kids experience everything from Classical repetoire to trends in the dance music scene.

NOT because I expect you to major in music.
NOT because I expect you to play or sing all you’re life.
NOT so you can relax and have fun.
BUT- So you will be human.
So you will recognize beauty.
So you will be sensitive.
So you will be closer to an Infinite beyond this universe.
So you will have something to cling to.
So you will have more love, more compassion, more gentleness, more good….in short, more life!
Of what value will it be to make a prosperous living unless you know how to live?

INCASE YOU WERE WONDERING
When life throws a curve ball- DUCK! That's my new motto for now. Life has been nuts for about a year, but it is all for the better. Many of you have asked questions pertaining to the split of Curtis and myself. My only answer to all of it is- It's permanently over. Musically and personally. We have divorced and decided to take our music in seperate paths. Thanks for respecting this decision.
