Founded in 2004, the West London trio Sounds Vain were originally a part of the SAS MODE collective, where they worked alongside UK Hip Hop group Infa Dead. Members Daps DSB, Sini and Spina all contribute to the groups unique sound, which is a combination of London street vibes along with a tight lyrical delivery. Not your average grime group, Sounds Vain are dedicated to voicing inspirational street politics whilst preaching only what they practise or what they have experienced. References to overt violence, straps and shanks are kept to a minimum
Before their entry into the Grime scene lyricists Daps and Sini first showcased their musical talent in the Drum and Bass scene (Sini as a DJ), collaborating with MC Skandal and the One Trak Mind crew. Spina began his musical career spinning his first discs to House and Garage. Despite the different musical influences, Sounds Vain made a smooth transition into the grime scene by developing their skills on live sets, then producing the goods in the studio by laying tight vocals onto Spinas skippy instrumentals. With a wide West London fan base the trio is set to take the UK by storm. Through their strong ties with UK Hip Hop acts such as Footsoldiers NTL and Infa Dead, as well as their strong affiliation with The Q Entertainment, lyricists Daps and Sini are able to demonstrate their versatility and broaden their lyrical spectrum. Spina, although very low key, has MCs queuing up to sample his infectious sound for their own projects.
Sounds Vain are currently working on their mixtape. The collaboration of Spinas beats with Daps and Sinis verbiage is certain to get many heads moving. The members are also working on solo projects within the group; with the first video having been made to Sinis tune Active. You can view the video by clicking the play icon below.
