About Me

Like any business, the Music Industry comes with it's own set of rules, it's own rewards and it's own pit falls, some of which I've been lucky to encounter and some...not so lucky!
My career started as bass player for Inspiral Carpets . As a young musician, I benefited from advice and guidance given to me from Music Industry professionals.
The support from Anthony Wilson and 808 State was instrumental to the inception of Inspiral Carpets' own label - Cow Records. Daniel Miller, members of Depeche Mode and New Order, have also offered me invaluable insights into the murky realms of 'Rock and Roll'!!
I became a Music Consultant and Mentor to hopefully help others with their careers in the industry.
In 1999, I spearheaded the New Deal for Musicians program in Manchester. A government initiative directed at unemployed musicians, providing information and support to artists, to help them develop their acts whilst claiming benefits.
The demand from my New Deal Clients for me to continue this support, led me to work for the Manchester Business Consortium in 2000. Some of my early clients were Cherry Ghost, Alterkicks, Haven and Jon Kennedy, to name but a few.
This year saw Blue Orchid, take over the provision for covering the North West of England with Business Support, who I look forward to working with.
My role as a Specialist Music Industry advisor has exposed me to a plethora of vibrant new Creative businesses, ranging from bands, record labels, promoters, designers, Community groups, venues, recording studios and retail outlets.
I actively encourage networking, creating a micro economy, with sectors feeding into and assisting each other, financially and socially.
I believe my clients have benefited from my help; guidance and support, resulting in many now feeling able to compete on a larger, nationwide, even global scale.
