CHOP-D.E.S.E.L

FROM JERSEY CITY 2 ATL COMIN SOON!

About Me

At the age of sixteen Mark Curry, the Jersey City born Emcee/producer, decided to seriously pursue a career in the music business. Through a mutual friend he was introduced to Double J, an original member of the Flavor Unit. After being impressed by Chop-D.E.S.E.L.s lyrics and delivery, J set up a meeting with the legendary DJ Mark The 45 King; producer of Hard Knock Life(Jay Z) Stan(Eminem) etc. In the spring of 1989, Chop then known as Supreme was in contract negotiations with The 45 King for his first record deal. After six months of negotiations and no resolution, Chop decided to search for another deal.By 1991, frustrated by the please listen to my demo process, Chop formed a group called Ready Ta Roll. Shortly thereafter the signed with a local indie label called Pep Records that released three singles and two videos (both directed by then burgeoning video director Hype Williams). Ready Ta Roll shared stages with the likes of Das Efx, Common, Beatnuts, Pharoe Monch, Original Flava and Jay Z. With limited radio and video play Ready Ta Rolls projects were short lived. In 1995 the group and the label severed ties. Three years later the group disbanded leaving Chop-D.E.S.E.L. back at square one. Doubling as the groups front man and producer, Chop developed a passion for creating tracks and producing artist. In 1998 D.E.S.E.L. traded in his mic for a MPC 2000 and, along with some other local producers, formed the production company Dream Team Music Group. D.E.S.E.L. has since worked with a steady flow ofartists ranging from underground hip hop voices like Ali-Vegas to commercial hip hop artist like LL Cool J. and with new school r&b artist Amerie to old school r&b artist Stephanie Mills. As an mc first and foremost Chop-D.E.S.E.L. couldnt leave the mic alone for long. So in 2004 he went back in the lab to write and produce songs for his own project tentatively titled From The Beats To Tha Booth. Now at age 33, he describes his music as grown man hip hop. Embodying KRS Ones aggressive battle skills, Chuck Ds powerful voice and intelligence, Rakims deep lyrics, Kool G Raps raw street content, and Big Daddy Kanes punch lines and smooth persona, Chop feels he has something that todays rappers lack. Under the watchful eye of legendary producers such as th 45 King, Track Masters, P-Diddy, Clark Kent, Pete Rock and DJ Eddie F, Chop D.E.S.E.L. is armed with enough ammo to become the East Coasts answer to the West Coast icon, Dr. Dre.
