Originating as a four piece instrumental band on the search for a singer, CURBSIDE is a band has gone through several line-up changes and has endured because of the adaptability and persistence of the two members that it is now comprised of, that being George Ortega on drums and Donovan Hernandez on guitar and filling in on bass.
CURBSIDE played much San Diegoâ€™s bar scene for about eight to ten months before parting ways with our very first guitarist. As a three piece we continued to play out for about half a year, still in San Diego, until we finally found a singer. We played together for about a year, as a full band that is.
At that point, we were ready to re-record this album that we had been writing songs for. This is when our band went through yet another line-up change (and right as we were getting back into the studio too!). We parted ways with our bassist and shortly after our singer followed. There was a difficult decision to be made at this point by the two remaining members and that was whether or not to continue performing the music that had been accomplished.
Forging ahead the band is now fronted by two individuals who stuck with the project regardless of the distance between the two band members. CURBSIDE is currently working on reconnecting with the audiences it may have slipped away from as well as establishing new relationships with fans, musicians, journalists, activists, promoters, club owners, etc.
We understand people can forget about a band that they think has broken up but weâ€™re still going. Weâ€™ve recorded an EP, which weâ€™re choosing art for. Weâ€™ll be releasing â€œGalvanize the Zeitgeistâ€ at the beginning of the 2008. In addition to playing out and promoting our bandâ€™s name, weâ€™re also collaborating with a few artists that approached us and that weâ€™ve approached. Weâ€™ll have some new releases under a different alias but our home will always be CURBSIDE.
