As you can see, my taste runs to non-fiction and the fiction I read is not the sort ot thing included in the Great Books of the Western World.
To be honest, I've never managed to get thru a work of fiction by any of the recognized big name authors. Though I've tried my level best the fact is that Hemingway, Fitzgerald, Faulkner, etc etc put me to sleep.
Abraham Lincoln "Those who deny freedom to others, deserve it not for themselves; and, under a just God, can not long retain it."
Teddy Roosevelt "I think there is only one quality worse than hardness of heart and that is softness of head. "
Fiorello LaGuardia "There is no Democratic or Republican way of cleaning the streets."

Thomas Jefferson "An honest man can feel no pleasure in the exercise of power over his fellow citizens. "
John Adams "Our obligations to our country never cease but with our lives. "
Benjamin Franklin "How many observe Christ's birthday! How few, his precepts! O! 'tis easier to keep Holidays than Commandments.
Winston Churchill "All great things are simple, and many can be expressed in single words: freedom, justice, honor, duty, mercy, hope. "
