About Me

“Beautiful” - Elbow“Massive, melodic, spine tingling. It works” - Manchester Music"Cracking lyrics...epic rock sound...an odyssey in tempo and melody. It may sound weird, but it’s fabulous" - GlasswerkThe Band Si Waite Vocals, Guitars, Bass Scott Ralph Vocals, Guitars, Bass Paul Murfin Drums, Vocals, SamplesThe Sound Captain Yange’s sound is heavy and melodic alternative rock, with loud guitars, pulsating rhythms and sweet vocal harmonies. A range of time signatures and inventive chord progressions are sprinkled tastefully throughout to create an awesome, epic sound that looks to their influences (Jeff Buckley, Led Zeppelin, Muse, Mew, Nirvana, Radiohead, Red Hot Chili Peppers, U2) while creating something totally fresh.Gigs Captain Yange have a strong reputation in Stoke-on-Trent as an exciting, technically brilliant live band who consistently deliver a thrilling and energetic performance wherever they play. The traditional 3-piece set up is enhanced by the use of triggered samples and by the two frontmen swapping instruments and lead vocal duties. The band also collaborates with visual artists, video artists and dancers. Headline appearances so far include The Underworld (Camden), The Underground (Stoke) and HMV showcases at The Late Room (Manchester). Captain Yange have played several support slots at The Sugarmill (Stoke) and appear regularly at venues around the West Midlands.Recordings Captain Yange have just released their 13-track self-produced debut album “Compos Mentis”, on their own label, Happy Squatter Records. It has been recorded and mixed by the band with Mark Ralph (Fatboy Slim, The Others) and David M Allen (The Cure).
