1)....anything classic hip-hop. raised on rakim and krs1 but the best years in rap was from 90-92 and 94-96. not the jiggy 96, but the 96 when battle rap and underground emcees [Heltah Skeltah, LOTUG, BlakMoon, WU, Tribe, Canibus, Big L, OGC] still was doin they thing, OFF the radio.
2)anything jazz, from swing to be-bop. mostly trios and quartets. basie, ellington, miles, mingus, bird, 'trane, tyner, monk, roach - that sort of thing.
3) neo soul -any and all
4) rap throwbacks - talib, mos def, kanye, jada
5)alternative - POD, incubus, creed, puddle of mud, gorillas, linkin park anything with guitars
