About Me

Here's to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They're not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo.You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them.About the only thing you can't do is ignore them.Because they change things. They invent. They imagine. They heal. They explore. They create. They inspire. They push the human race forward. Maybe they have to be crazy. How else can you stare at an empty canvas and see a work of art? Or sit in silence and hear a song that's never been written? Or gaze at a red planet and see a laboratory on wheels? While some see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.

Overheard In New York

I’ve always wanted to breakdance. I’m buying a motorcycle and it will be small and have dents. I love drinking wine with my girlfriends, and whiskey with my guy friends. But I do not like to be drunk. I used to dread math and chemistry and physics until I learned to enjoy them. Relationships seem a lot like quantum physics, bendy and vast and extraordinary. I just learned to wear high-heel shoes since being in NYC, and now I like them quite a bit. I tried surfing, but always heard the Jaws dun-nun-nun-un and got spooked. I love being in water though and I can swim far off shore for hours. Without hearing anything. I will learn Latin and Sanskrit, to read old things with nothing lost in the translation. I love taking pictures, seeing the world though a camera lens, and when I have space I will build a darkroom and spend hours at a time in it. I travel light. Camping and sleeping outside is the closest I've felt to 'God'. I try really hard to enjoy not having an itinerary in life, to enjoy the journey. It is true that I am a book whore and would spend my entire paycheck on books if I could. I often do. I love sewing soft fabrics and eating cheese with green grapes. Dimples are nice. On both sets of cheeks. I've been an EMT for nearly a third of my life and realize already that some of my most whole-feeling memories are from my years with Search and Rescue. I will cherish those times when I am old and wise and fragile. I love the saying "Be the change you want to see". I am happiest when making something (I have busy hands and like making some thing out of nothing). Knitting and sewing are like meditation. I will learn to silk-paint as well as my mother did. While I really and truly do enjoy the internet and email, I value books and sending old-fashioned handwritten notes. I adore cooking with and for the people I love. I love to love, to take good care of people. I love strangers too. People on the subway. Homeless guys and makeup counter girls and cab drivers. I am still a child inside, and an old-old woman too. I watch people in cafes and on the train and on the street. Human beings interest me, the way they interact in bars or crises or during moments of high emotion. We are all monkeys. Most everyone smiles back if you smile first. I love eye contact. And affection. I spaz without down time and can be fiercly private, which surprises me. I miss my mom and dad on a daily basis and really wish that there was a phone to the great beyond. I like losing track of time in a good book. Like falling asleep from myself for a moment. I have a vivid imagination and a bad memory. I really want to quit smoking but haven’t seemed to get the hang of it just yet. I’ll keep trying because I'm stubborn. I want to own a home and have a garden to grow things in, herbs and wildflowers and vegetables. Fruit trees too, because they are just amazing. Sweet food that grows on trees. Perfect.

I'd like to meet:
