The Kings of Suburban Glam!
The Alpine - five friends from the Danish city of Aalborg that are just about to rule the world. Five folks that have known each other since the early days at high school.
Then one day, Peter, Mikkel, Ida, Bjarke and Simon suddenly decided to form a band, a bunch like a family. From now on, The Alpine stick together like glue. Everything they do has just one purpose, to spread their music all over Denmark. Sounds like a typical Teenage Band story!? Does it? Maybe there are folks like The Alpine in every goddamn city in the western hemisphere. So, what is the point? Why should The Alpine be different to any other music group on planet earth! Its as simple as this!
The Alpine simply know how to write great songs. Theyve got the skills to combine the best elements out of 40 years of Pop History. This band has the power to wake up the dead. The Alpine make shy guys sexy and tough girls weak. Its all about energy, charm, emotion and glamour. But one after the other!
The history of The Alpine is henpecked by two main sources of power. An iron sake and hard work! Creating songs in a flamboyant and extraordinary way sometimes is not as easy as it seems. The songs on On Feel Trips is the result of believing in a dream. It was always the aim of this band to inspire people and to offer them the possibility of forgetting the burdens of ordinary life. Every single member of this band seems to know how to deal with difficulties and how to transform them into creative energy.
In the early days of the bands history The Alpine affiliate with other artists from their region and found the so called Quinten project. A house which offered rehearsal space, as well as recording possibilities. Thats also the place were The Alpine first record. Shortly after having finished these first recordings, a demo is sent to Kasper Winding, a Danish producer. As a result, Winding invites the band to Copenhagen. Finally working with him and his English colleague Rik Simpson, it turns out to be not as effective as presumed. At the end of the day there is nothing left to do but to go back to the hometown and map out new strategies. Without the prospect of a record deal our five heroes decide to do it the old school way. The Alpine clinch to release the songs as their first promo CD in self-direction. The Title: World Record The aim? Nothing but everything!
First reactions to the songs were as unexpected as they were exciting. Family and friends are thrilled. On of the songs, called Ground Beneath Me, is the first track that finds its way into the hot list of P3, a well known Danish radio station. The song leads the Demo Charts for several weeks before being listed on the standard rotation. A forebode for other tracks to follow.
From the very beginning The Alpine focus on traditional basic work. The Quintet erodes thousands of miles and plays nearly every square meter on Danish soil. Soon they enjoy the reputation of being a sensational Live act. Despite the lack of a record contract they at least consolidate a solid fan base.
In 2005 things start to overturn. Besides first studio sessions with Marco Manieri, a brief German tour and the invitation to London via MTV A cut, the band is stuck in a situation made up of euphoria and excitement. Especially the trip to London is considered to be the reward well deserved for previous efforts. Earlier, the Band left thousands of rivals behind to finally find itself, together with 9 other European acts, in London to fight over a support slot for Anastacia.
While being stationed in the British capital The Alpine even record the first take of Mondays Look The Same in the legendary Abbey Road Studios! Eventually they get what they deserveA record contract with the famous independent label Gun Records!
But does all this really matter? Of course, as all these steps were necessary to achieve success. But in the end its only the music that counts. Its all about girls and boys having goose bumps while listening. Its about falling in love, separating and falling in love again! The Alpine are modern bards that make leisure more agitating. Their music and their lyrics make it affordable for everybody to go on a trip through minds and hearts. On Feel Trips was recorded together with Marco Manieri at the famous Gula studios (Franz Ferdinand, Suede, The Cardigans) in Malm. The first single Mondays Look the same already leads the way to everything what might follow!!!! The Alpine are unique and capable of playing huge arenas at the same time. The Alpine provide a sound of happiness but not neglecting the problems of our times. Conformity, anxieties and fashion stigmata are just a few issues that are dealt with. To sum it up On Feel Trips is not about buying records, listening to the songs and then putting them back in the rack! This music is about the connection between unforgettable moments its soundtracks. Even in years to come we will be able to hear the songs while remembering those glorious times. In their home country The Alpine already hit the charts and achieved an honourable amount of success. Mondays Look The Same was listed on the Top of Danish video charts, reached the top ten singles chart and was voted for Pick Of The Week by MTV Denmark! One does not have to be a visionary to see that this is just the beginning of a great story!
