"The Year of The Captain"The band have built solid bridges between the UK and Denmark with sucessful concerts at Barfly in Glasgow, The Cavern in Liverpool, and Lille Vega and Stengade30 in Copenhagen.Their debut album tells the story of three men, their various destinies, and their outlook on life. Don, our anti-hero, and his friends Ray and Harry, all share an upbringing of emotional neglect, and on the album we hear the consequences of their lives of drug abuse, sex and alcoholism. Monotheism, for example, is an account of Don’s battle with a religious childhood, and his narrow sexual code. Ray handles the eponymous character’s downfall from a stable, hardworking apprenticeship in a family firm, to a life of violence and imprisonment.And so the album as a whole forms a soundtrack to three turbulent existences. Through these gritty songs about real lives, Captain Mirage bear witness to the characters’ journeys to the bottom with an authenticity of rare incisiveness.Drawing inspiration from Queen, Steely Dan, Pink Floyd and Peter Gabriel, the Captain provide an original, energetic and theatrical experience, both live and in their recordings. .
