Looking for new members!

About Me

china RED are twins, Dave and Matt Sellar, 22, from Lichfield, Staffs. We have been involved with bands of all genres over the past 4-5 years or so. From the 'Reckless Randomists' pop-punky stylee (excuse the band name, we were very young back then!!) to Rounaiers prog-rockyness and to china RED (as a complete band) and it's jazz meets pop meets acoustic offerings.
We are now looking for our next project and are after dedicated musicians to work alongside. It sounds like a lot but we are looking to jam with a percussionist, keyboard player, vocalist, a bassist and maybe even a DJ!
A lot of bands, individuals (myself included!) often forget what 'making music' is all about. They think of the fame, flashy lights and everything else that goes with it but forget to think what they want to achieve musically.
Some people do do music for the fame and fortune and I can't argue with that but for me personally, I want to achieve that sound that I hear on the CDs that I buy, or create a sound that I can honestly say I would go out and buy because I like the song and not because it's mine or my mates band. If this brings success then so be it - I'm sure I wouldn't be the one complaining!
I honestly believe that if you can make songs that you love to play/listen to, others will always agree and follow. Ultimately, this is what makes music so great and powerful!
Speaking from experience, some of the best times of my life (I sound old now!) were when I was in a band and I knew people loved to watch and be a part of the show - during and after the set! For those who were there, can you remember... taking periods 5 and 6 off from school on a Friday to watch us practice while Rhys filmed it all?? The pig gig?? Can you remember going to the cottage in Tugford (of all places!) to write some songs? How about me dancing my pants off at the Cavern in Liverpool when it was Sam's birthday?? good times my friends, good times!!
Me and matt have always enjoyed writing and showcasing our material to different audiences and it is because of this we put so much time and energy in to doing it - we often get together 5-6 nights a week to jam. To a lot of people this seems a lot to fit in but if you want something bad enough you can get it!
Jamming/Practice shouldn't be a chore. It shouldn't be a hassle to go and practice, you do it because you want to. You want to express yourself, you want to develop as a musician, and more importantly you enjoy doing it!
If you are interested in being part of the team and agree with what I've put up on here please get in touch. I know I've rambled on a bit but I'm sure if you agree with it, it'll make sense to you.
We're both 22 and have about 4-5 years experience playing in bands and writing our own material. We're not bothered about gender or anything like that and our own age should only be used as a guideline!
You should know that of the 3 bands we have been invloved in we have received label/management interest from each. We were involved with MAS Records (Patron Robert Plant) and Jar Music Groups (Universal USA, J Records and orgainsiers of Emergenza) Development programs and been to the studio and recorded on several occasions - this isn't bragging because nobody has the right to brag whatever level they are at, it is just merely saying that we take pride in what we do and showing the standards and expectations of our next projects.
I always believe in having an ultimate goal to go for in life, and music is no different to me. I want to release a CD of music that I can hold my hands up and say I've worked hard for this but I know it's paid off because I'm proud to say that it is my CD. I'd then love to go to somewhere far, far away with connection to the CD so I can visit the different cultures of the world while playing my music to new audiences - what a combo!!
I think that just about covers it. A list of our fav musicians/bands are in our influences section so if you are a musician and share similar views on being in a band, tastes in music or want further details where we practice etc. please get in touch by sending us a message on myspace or through [email protected]. Just so you know, even if you don't play an instrument listed above but would like to get involved I'd still love to hear from you!
Take care,
Dave
