Bettie was born in a Nashville movie theater to 23 year old Edna Mae Pirtle and 27 year old Walter Roy Pagern in a Nashville movie theater on April 22, 1923, 3:00am. Her mother named her Bettie Mae Page. She was the second out of six kids. Her parents got divorced while she was still very young. Her mom worked as a hairdresser during the day and washed laundry at night. When she was only 10 years old, her mother placed Bettie and her two sisters in an orphanage while she worked and saved money. Bettie was a good student in highschool. She was a member and program director of the Dramatics Club, secretary treasurer of the Student Council, coeditor of the school’s newspaper and yearbook; She was even voted "Most Likely to Succeed." Bettie went on to receive a Bachelor of Arts degree from Peabody College. In San Francisco she got her first modeling job at a local furrier where she modeled fur coats for clients. Bettie ended up doing quite a bit of modeling. In 1955, she won the title "Miss Pinup Girl of the World." In January 1955, she was the centerfold in Playboy’s January issue. Bettie was even named the "Girl with the Perfect Figure," with her photographs appearing in everything from record albums to playing cards. Bettie also did a bit of acting. She secured several roles in various New York productions as well as various television appearances. Her off-Broadway productions included Time is a Thief and Sunday Costs Five Pesos. She even appeared in the Jackie Gleason show. Bettie was also married a few times. Billy Neal (1943 - 1947), Armond Walterson (1958 - 1963) and Harry Lear (1967 - 1972). In 1957, she ended her career. Bettie currently resides in California... .... .. .... .. ....

"The good old music of '40s '50s and '60s -- Guy Lombardo, Tommy Dorsy, Harry James. The songs made sense back then. The rock songs now don't make sense. I have a lot of cassettes. I have a friend who sends me the good old musicals with Gene Kelly, Doris Day. I play them all the time."

Movies:

Dark Victory with Bette Davis. She was in a some too! (1953 Striporama, 1955 Teaserama).

Television:

Bettie was on television a few times, including The Jackie Gleason Show.
