The hook-laden, melody driven quintet known as Capital Eye hails from Chicago's North Side. Formed in late 2003 by lead guitarist Jimmy Mayhem, Capital Eye has underwent a series of lineup changes before becoming a close, talented, and solid unit with great chemistry in 2006 with lead vocalist Marie Gouwens, drummer Liam O'Brien and bassist Dave Gall. The spring of 2007 saw the departure of guitarist Davey Vorhes, but after a five month search, CE found a crafty new guitarist named Derek Hoeksema.
Their distinctive sound echoes the band's diverse influences ranging from technical and melodic pop punk tunes, punk rock anthems, 80s hardcore punk, hard rock, and 80s metal, backing up their lead singer's dynamic voice and wide range. Lyricists Jimmy and Marie pen in lines of experience on themes dealing with love, alienation, personal politics, sarcasm, social and political angst, and a ray of hope that may or may not be found. Capital Eye shines on stage and plays fun, energetic shows while also keeping a warm and intimate relationship with their fans. They are also one of the hardest working bands, racking in countless hours of self promotion and can be seen all over Chicago spreading the word outside of many different venues. Their "in your face" presence, glowing personalities, and catchy music send them well on their way to putting their mark on the Chicago Punk Rock scene!
