About Me

I have too many hobbies. I'm a braider, juggler, craftsperson, dancer, writer, and musician.
I'm in the Irish traditional band Aisling . We've just recorded an album, which you can listen to on MySpace at Aislingtrad .
Someday I hope to make a few music videos. When/if I get around to this, I plan to post those here. That'll be awhile.
On a general note, because of a very odd and upsetting attack on my character (over an event more than 10 years ago, from someone who had never heard of me until a couple of weeks ago), I will say this: I love to flirt. It gives me a nice ego boost, makes me feel pretty, and hopefully gives the guy an ego boost, too. I don't shag someone until I know him a good deal better than just as a passing acquaintance. So, if we meet and I flirt? Realize that it's just flirting, 'k? And no, I will not let you take naked photos of me, so don't even bother to ask....

My Interests

I enjoy: juggling, banjo, guitar, music, dancing (contra, waltz, swing, random freeform), reading, filk, acrobatics, spinning, weaving, improv, roses, bicycling, biking, hiking, writing, song writing, playing music, irish music, celtic music, folk music, knitting, costuming, ren faire, braiding, sketching, canoeing, collecting hobbies.

I'd like to meet:

Really, I'm here because a couple of friends are. However, I did find myself cruising various keywords this morning.... Really, I'm looking for more people to "play" with - by play, I mean juggling, doing acrobatics, climbing trees, canoeing, hiking, and generally having fun. So - open to meeting new people, athough that's not the primary goal of this account.
If you send a friend request to me and I don't already know you in real life, please send an email explaining why you have done so. i.e., what you've seen in my profile to interest you, etc. Otherwise I'll assume you're keyword searching and friending people at random. Random/pure business requests get denied.

Music:

Heh. See my scars. I like a lot of different music, primarily folk and Celtic, but also a wide range of music that I don't necessarily pursue. However, I've had enough people distain my musical choices that I'm hesitant to admit to actual bands. (Although you can get a pretty good idea by perusing my friends list here).

Movies:

Movies come and go for me. In the year or so before I wrote this profile, I'd seen Finding Neverland, Take the Lead, umm....Have I mentioned I have a terrible memory?

Television:

I watch almost no television. Watched Season 1 of Lost on DVD. Never, ever watch an entire season of Lost two weeks before boarding a plane. And when you do? Don't buy the cute little toy airplane in the gift shop and start playing with it. Also, determining which of your fellow passengers will be which character, while entertaining, is not recommended.
And no, I didn't actually buy the little toy airplane, much as I was tempted to do so.

Books:

Fantasy, well-written historical romance, biographies, autobiographies, entertaining case studies (callous as that sounds), craft books, how-to guides.

Heroes:

Depends on what you mean by hero. If you mean action-adventure person I'd be like, they're characters from books - Harry (female) from The Blue Sword, Kerowyn from By the Sword (ignore her exceedingly poor management skills at the beginning), Cecily from The Outlaws of Sherwood, Robin from Robin of Sherwood (as pompous as I can now see he was), Venetia from, well, Venetia. (Ok, that last isn't action adventure, but she has some very fine qualities).
In terms of people who have done really cool stuff I'd like to do, or have qualities that I'd like to emulate - a lot of those people are my friends. Deborah, for music and self-exploration; Debbie, for writing, drawing, music, and incredible networking skills; Tanya, for wit and writing; Beckett, for her courage in dealing with both cancer and rambunctious four-year-old twin boys; Jen for understanding and perseverence; Merav for calmness and beautiful hair; Ren, for being willing to take risks to make her dream come true.... Maybe I should just write out a list of "why I love my friends" sometime.

My Blog

WTF? Irish dance ringtones.

So I was just hitting "Send" in a message to a friend on here when I noticed one of the ads beneath had the subject line "Irish dance ringtones".  I actually clicked back just to look.  Ther...

Old Blind Dogs Concert Report

Went to the Old Blind Dogs concert on Wednesday night in Bellville, OH.  They started out pretty mellow but with a good groove.  I was a little surprised - from the times I rushed by their ...
