MykeL ExneR started playing in various and sundry bands at the age of 17. Primarily a singer, he performed locally with several small grunge and metal groups including Flush, and A Box of Hammers. Between the ages of 18 and 25 he developed his skill on the guitar and learned to express himself lyrically.
Originally from the lower mainland, MykeL ExneR's influences include some of music's most respected tortured artists; Trent Reznor, Marilyn Manson, Billy Corgan, Kurt Cobain, and Maynard James Keenan of Tool. Drawing upon the energy of Jonathan Davis of Korn and the lyrical eloquence of Chris Cornell, MykeL worked to make music that is deep, dark and emotive.
At 22, MykeL attended the Trebas Institute for Recorded Music Production. It was then that he discovered the infinite world of synthesis and digital sound production. After finishing his studies and still playing in A Box of Hammers, MykeL toiled endlessly to make his idyllic sound; something that would express everything he felt, in a means of communication that was both compelling and a little frightening.
In the fall of 2005 MykeL completed 2 albums of songs, Distance and Disconnected. These albums are the precursors to his imminent new release, A Fading Distant Memory. With a massive catalogue of songs to choose from, MykeL ExneR extracted the darkest, most powerful songs to show the culmination of all his skills and desires. Long hours in the dark in front of his monitor were spent creating the perfect sound, something that would compel others and inspire them to create their own music.
With hard-hitting songs like Disconnected and I Don't Know, and the relentless melancholy sound of Waiting for Something, MykeL ExneR will take over the world. All trite and uninspired music will be replaced with his revolutionary new album, A Fading Distant Memory. Women and men alike all over the globe will swoon to the sounds of songs like Dying Inside and be moved to toil endlessly over their own creations. The ripple effect will continue from the epicentre until it is all just a fading distant memory....
