Multi-award winning vocalist and musician Dessy Dobreva is known throughout Bulgaria, where she has anchored her own television show and participated in the highest rated program on Bulgarian TV, “Slavi's Showâ€. She has performed in front of audiences exceeding 40,000 people, including such high profile events as the Easter Concert (2003), and the New Years Concerts (2002 and 2003) at the National Palace of Culture in Sofia. During her three year tenure as the lead singer of Ku-Ku Band and “Slavi’s Showâ€, she sang along with such stars as Manhattan Transfer, Dream Theater, David Coverdale, BOND, Incognito, to name a few. Among the guests on the show were also the likes of Jean-Claude Van Dame, Former Russian President, Mikhail Gorbachev (whom Dessy brought to tears with her rendition of an old Russian song!), Ray Liotta, Stephen Baldwin, Tony Palmer (Sony Music), and Bob Miller (Governor of Nevada, USA). Her performances have reached millions of people, and are showcased in three CDs recorded with Ku-Ku Band: Prima Patriot (2004), Vox Populi (2003) and The New Barbarians (2001).As a representative of the Bulgarian Cultural Center in the U.S. and throughout her career as a musician, Dessy has been actively promoting Bulgarian culture across Europe and USA. Through high-profiled concerts at London’s Royal Albert Hall with the “Bulgarian Legend†Dance-show (2004), and at the Astoria Hall with Ku-Ku Band (2004), she has gathered much attention from the public and the media. Her songs are widely played at a number of radio stations throughout USA and Europe. Dessy also starred in a three-hour long show on Bulgarian National TV (BNT), which promoted the many achievements of modern Bulgarian Society. It was broadcast via satellite to more than fifty countries worldwide, including the USA and Canada.After a big tour in USA and Canada (2006 – 2007), Dessy recently made her debut in the world famous music club “The Blue Note†in New York, where she attracted New York’s audience attention. Currently Dessy is working on her new album, which will be a fusion of pop/R&B/jazz and her Bulgarian roots.
