When you add, or approve, a new MySpace friend, do you actually read the new friend's profile? If so then I welcome you to my profile and hope you'll find the following information both interesting and useful.
My Profile Song
I don't always have a profile song installed but when I do, it's almost always lyrically significant to me. If you listen to the words, you'll know something about my current state of mind.
As for the list below, it chronicles some of my feelings throughout these past couple of months. I guess the notion that I don't need just a couple of songs at a time to express my heart is a sign of ever-increasing emotional recovery so, hey, that's a good thing!
My Health
I'm fortunate to be healthy. After an unexpected diagnosis of high blood pressure about a year and a half ago, I went on medicine and began making changes in my lifestyle. By working on eating better than I had been, and incorporating exercise into my life, I feel much better than I did and lost some excess weight along the way.
I've found a comfortable balance between 'mostly sensible' and 'occasionally indulgent.' I also take a handful of nutritional supplements every day. I call it my 'fistful of prevention'.
Instant Messengers
I have screen names on the following IM services:Google TalkAIM (AOL)Yahoo!MSN/Microsoft MessengerICQIf you're one to chat, let me know and we'll exchange contact info.
Other sites I enjoy
In no particular order:
BeliefNet .com Inspiration. Spirituality. Faith.
Talking Heads
I'm intelligent, curious, open-minded and articulate. I'm also detail-oriented, analytical and I relish a feisty debate! ("detail-oriented' applies to my perceptions, i.e., the present; I'm more of a 'big picture' kind of thinker when it comes to imagination, i.e., the future).
On American Citizenship
You've only got one government: participate in it the way our Founding Fathers intended! The Declaration Of Independence and The Bill Of Rights aren't just historical documents, dear Reader; they are a political manifesto for how "We, The People" may know, and protect, our rights as free men and women.
I believe our government is dangerously close to circumventing the U.S. Constitution (i.e., the law of the land) by implementing martial law in response to a soon-to-occur catastrophic event. If that sounds paranoid to you then perhaps you've been too busy to notice what's going on all around you.
What is the North American Union?
Work, Work, Work
I've worked in the software-development field for nearly 20 years. Though my job sometimes changes from programmer to analyst to designer to quality-assurance tester to technical writer to trainer to consultant and back again, the one 'constant' in all that time is software. I thoroughly enjoy the software development process and, by implication, working (and playing) on computers -- especially on the Internet. The Internet is the ultimate playground for a curious mind and I practically live there when I'm home.
Before that I served in the U.S. Navy. I was stationed on a destroyer where I operated and maintained the ship's missile-systems computers and radar. I also served as an armed Security Team member, responsible for protecting the ship from hostile personnel invasions and/or sabotage.
Spiritual vs. Religious
Spiritually speaking, my 'statement of faith' consists of one declaration: "I believe there is an intelligence behind our existence." I'm very open to discuss this with anyone who cares about such things (fiesty debate lover, remember? ;)
My Sensitive Side
In spite of all that 'geeky' stuff, I'm also sensitive, compassionate and fully in touch with my emotions.
I'm a capable and passionate communicator who cares about people and their struggles, and who tries to help them see alternatives and possibilities wherever they may exist.
I'm a proud father of 3 amazing daughters. While I don't get to see them nearly as often as I'd like, I do get to talk to them occasionally and I'm so very, very proud of the way they're growing up. Each one is a unique personality with her own set of talents, strengths and vulnerabilities and I have never loved anyone as deeply or as committedly as I love them.
Recent Pain
(This section has served its purpose and will soon be removed entirely; hooray for the process of emotional healing and recovery, and especially for the friends who make such a thing possible – THANK YOU, FRIENDS, FOR ALL YOUR LOVE AND SUPPORT OVER THESE PAST FEW MONTHS)
I'm fresh out of a serious, long-term relationship that had progressed through engagement before it ended. Yes, I'm devastated, heart-broken and in the painful process of rediscovering myself and recovering my sanity. For those of you who knew her, don't be hatin' to me or I'll un-friend you faster than you can blink. Thank you for respecting my boundaries in this matter.
In March 2007 I moved from Maryland to Tulsa, Oklahoma in order to get a fresh start at life. It's too soon for me to be interested in another relationship right now so for those of you who may be inclined in this direction: friends only, please.
Why do I wear my heart on my sleeve? I dunno... guess it's all part of my self-discovery. This has always been my way: in touch with my emotions and willing to be transparent (vulnerable) with friends.
Speaking of friends, what a convenient segway into the next section...
