About Me

I want a miniature cow like this one:
I kinda love being me. I think being humble just adds extraneous steps of annoying questions, so I'm going to be balls out with my introduction.
I was born Patrick Steven Waechter in the year of ET, Prince William, the artificial heart, the computer being named Time Magazine's Man of the Year, and Thriller. Our family was humbly abusive and J.Crew/GAP extravagant. The youngest of three, I filled the heads of my two simplefolk parents with wild dreams of a budding triple threat doctor/lawyer/handiman from the get-go, and spent each day from then dashing those hopes one petal at a time. My father, an enigmatic redneck banker who pronounced the word "debris" as "der-bris." My mother, a civic leader and the first mayor of our town, who purchased brand new white Keds especially for wearing while weed-eating, which she would wear until they became a natural hue of kelly green.
I spent the first sixteen years of my life in the Western North Carolina mountains (Dolly Parton birthplace adjacent). Some call it the "Enlightened South," but I dispute this euphemism with the fact that it's still ridden with confederate flags and trailers, and the fact that my family had a dedicated area to burning brush in our yard called "the burnin' pahl."
I spent my youth identified as an academic theatre kid slash entrepreneur slash long distance runner slash "rich kid" (but that was seriously just because our house didn't have wheels). I wrote my first little novel at ten, started my first internet business at eleven, masturbated for the first time and did my first play at twelve, went to Europe for the first time at fourteen, kissed a girl for the first time at fifteen, and had my first gay experience just after turning sixteen.
I quit high school after eleventh grade for extenuating reasons (that and well, I wanted to get the fuck out of there), and moved out to LA, to the wild wild west against parental wishes. Started up at USC, saw the downfall of the redneck empire including incarcerations and infidelity, and graduated in '02 with a business degree that would make non-contrarian non-uneducated fathers proud (double negative intended).
Now, I'm just making my way home. But not the one I grew up in. I'm creating my own home in South Florida from the bricks and mortar of my own passion and desire in writing and love. Along the way, I have already experienced quite a few pitfalls in my own path, but that's what life is-- things fall apart, and you just... put them back together again. I carry a little baggage with me, but it all fits in the messenger bag that is often called my purse, and I'm happy to show it to any inspector at any checkpoint. Being open is the only way for anyone to truly know you, and I want that kind of love in my life. So I walk around with the bag unzipped most of the time.
Some people harp on me and say I've become consumed with new age bullshit lately in my search for answers to questions like "Why me?" Fuck them. Ralph Marston's greatday.com has become an integral part of every morning for me. My favorite of his wise allowances:
Many of the things that get to you are not worth the energy and the trouble that you invest in them. Do yourself a favor, and give yourself some distance from them.
Break the pattern of automatically reacting in the same way, time after time, to all the minor disturbances that come along. Sometimes, the best response is no response at all.
Seek to rise above the petty dramas that don't do anyone any good. Keep in mind that where you put your awareness and your attention is where your life will go.There are so many beautiful, positive outlets for your energy. Every day is full of possibilities for building, creating, loving, learning and growing.
Certainly there will always be difficulties in life that must be addressed and attended to. Yet there is no reason to make for yourself any needless difficulties of confrontations.
A sign of true strength is the willingness to completely let go of the things that don't really matter. Choose to exercise that strength, and keep life focused in a positive, meaningful direction.

Sometimes my friends and I like to make a scene...
I LOVE LAS VEGAS AS MUCH AS THESE SHOWGIRL DRAG QUEENS DO!
Sometimes I stop at McDonald's on the way home from the gym; people say this means I'm undoing the workout, but I don't really get what the hell that means.I have a weekly standing date with Keesh, my Dachshund pal. I don't like the rain; neither does Keesh.
I grew up fast, and so I'm a little old for my age, but I hate the phrase, "old soul," as it sort of makes me cringe.
