Damn that girl...I just walked straight into the lightpost !

About Me

-Ok, so there won't be any of that grandiose self-summarizing stuff from me. The whole profile in itself is telling enough for my taste...And from browsing through it, those among you who are perceptive will get the general idea ( positive i hope, lol ! ) of who i am. I'll just add as a complement that i'm a boyish smartypants and i'm not totally unpleasant to have around as a friend ! I have a tendency to overanalyse everything and at times i can be somewhat intense, other times lost in the clouds but all in all, i'm "mostly harmless". Now regarding that said profile, i have to admit i'm not a big fan of prefab profile codes...So i made this one myself ( including the background ) to reflect my personality. So, you could deduce from it that i have a colorless personality ( lol ). Or you could say instead, that i see my world in shades of grey; that i dislike "black OR white" thinking and views, etc... Or, you could just think that my profile looks like that simply because, i've always had a soft spot for minimalist B&W in pictural arts. That B&W art strengths resides solely in subtleties of rendition and the subject's raw appeal to emotions. No artifices or gimmicks, no pretenses, no fluff. And if you thought that...Well i don't think i would dissagree with ya, lol ! So, in that vein, here's a few favorite B&W vids of mine - Starting with this simple and effective B&W vid of a powerful song, by a great Canadian band: "Diamond Mine" by Blue Rodeo.Speaking of powerful songs by great Canadian bands...If i could only find the Tragicaly Hip vid "Locked in the trunk of a car", it would fit perfectly...Update ! I found it ! My favorite Hip's song visually rendered with an intense and dark B&W video. This is my second favorite song from Blue Rodeo ( the first one is "Lost Together" ), but it's one of my favorite music videos. By it's creative use of B&W and 8mm home movie simulation, it creates an intimate and personnal athmosphere that helps to convey the emotions in the song. Finally, this one is a favorite, not because of it's stricking cinematography ( although there's nothing wrong with it ), but more because i identify with that dude ALOT...Yep, that IS indeed a typical home date for me *sigh* ( lol )+( not only that girl is extremely hot; she's got a great attitude, lol ! )

If I were a Dead Russian Composer, I would be Sergei Rakhmaninov.

I lived in the early Twentieth Century and was well known for my compositional, conducting, and piano skills, yet I am melancholy despite this talent. My famous works include my nearly-impossible piano concerti.

My Interests

Psychology, Sociology, Ethology, Philosophy, Photography, Chivalry, Irish culture, Pop culture, Art, Americana, American Civil War, WWII and general History, Weapons and Warfare, Pool, Debates, Darts, Classic Faces, Classic Beer, Classic Bikes and Classic Cars. ( The car is the 67-68 Mercury Cougar, one of my favorite "lesser known" classic cars that shares the same platform and mechanics with the legendary 67-68 Mustangs. The bike is another legend, the Triumph Bonneville that was re-introduced in 2000 )

I'd like to meet:

The quintessential Dean koontz's novel heroine: Street wise with practical smarts, sexy but down to earth, playful and funny. A heart of gold that loves to help people in need. She can defend herself and keep a cool head in tight situations. She's good with guns, she's a natural straight shooter. She has an innate ability to be adored by old people, nice guys, kids and dogs alike ( along with an uncanny knack of attracting bad luck, violent jerks, psychopaths and evil entities, which is of course fundamental to the novel's intrigue ). She could get any guy she wants but choose to live her life with one of those adoring nice guys that has, above all others, a peculiar ability to understand her.

Music:

Well now that the musical aspect of my friends list is growing...I guess a look there is a good way to get a glimpse of my musical tastes. ( Try to guess what favorite song of mine this is, lol ! )

Movies:

Classic B&W dramas from the 50's and 60's. ( This is one of my favorite movie. Great psychological drama that all unfolds in one room, a jury room. ) All movies from Sci-Fi's golden age, no matter how cheesy some of them looks now... ( The original "The Thing". It was later remade by John Carpenter ) All of Hitchcock's classics ( guess what famous director had a platinum blonde hair fetish, lol ! )I love most stupid movies of the absurd "Airplane" genre, "Top Secret" is my favorite.( "I know a little German. He's sitting over there" )

Television:

Some of my most actual tv treats can be seen in my friends list. My less recent tele treasures include two classics that i gleefully discovered years ago in weekly late, late night reruns.Rod Serling's "Twillight Zone" and Joseph Stefano's "The Outer Limits". Classic shows where quality scripts were prioritized over everyting else...A lost tradition from the glory days of television that seems to be making a comeback with shows like "Lost" and "Heros" ( with shows like "6 feet under" holding the torch for them...And no, i won't mention "Grey's" or "Boston" because i think we needed yet another doctor and lawyer show like we needed a hole in the head... )As for this other classic, i discovered it during it's original airplay.I caught the first episode by chance because i stopped my incessant channel hopping to look at the cute redhead, lol ! ( it was of course, special agent Dana Scully ) After just a few minutes of viewing, i thought: "WOAH...What the hell is that!". The X-Files kept me and a million others thinking exactly that, again and again, for 8 wonderful seasons...

Books:

A cherished book, the book that long ago introduced me to the "innomable" ( lol ) world of H.P. Lovecraft. ( "FROM a private hospital for the insane near Providence, Rhode Island there recently disappeared an exceedingly singular person..." ). Speaking of books...Here's a cool place to sawp used paperback and keep that readin' frenzy goin', even in finantially tight months ( lol ):

Heroes:

Well not really heros per say...More someone, real or characterized, for whom i have a strong feeling of kindship: The socially inept and brilliant Anthony Hill ( clinical psychologist and police profiler in the british series "Wire in the Blood" )The wide eyed "Petit Prince" and "Night Flyer" Saint-Exupéry ( no, he's not a saint, lol! He's a brilliant writer and a French WWII fighter pilot )Godzilla ( the japanese one, of course... These last years, i reaquainted myself with the big guy in order to introduce him to a kid i'm really fond of who was deep into his dinosaur phase and VOILA ! A new Godzilla fan was born ! )
