hmmmmmmmmm:
from War's Offensive on Women: The Humanitarian Challenge in Bosnia, Kosovo, and Afghanistan by Julie A. Mertus:
"Many of these projects are flawed from the start because they are designed and funded by an outside donor according to a preconceived formula without regard to realities on the ground. In one early effort adapting an approach that had proved successful elsewhere, pregnant cows were given to some of the most desperate women. The notion was that the women would be able to keep the calf after birth and kill the cow for meat. The problem was that the people were so desperate for food that they all killed the cows for meat while they were still pregnant.
... well duh (and I hate the expression "duh")

HUMAN TRAFFICKING
1 million people are annually traded globally
50,000 women and children are brought to the US for sexual exploitation every year
An estimated 600,000 to 800,000 men, women, and children are trafficked across international borders yearly
From the total 600,000-800,000 people trafficked across international borders every year, 70 percent are female and 50 percent are children

I'd like to meet:
I’m just collecting worlds; different views.
The thought that I have not properly cultivated virtue,
That what is learned has not been thoroughly discussed,
That knowing what is right I have not moved toward it,
That what is wrong I have not been able to change-
These are the things which bother me.
