About Me

I am based in Greensboro, NC, where I'm a member of the faculty of the Miles Davis Jazz Studies Program at UNC-Greensboro. My first album, Triptych, was released in 2000 by CoJazz/BRC, featuring my working trio at that time of Chris Haney on bass and Dave Weinstock on drums, with guest appearances by Stan Smith on guitar, and Pete Mills and Eddie Bayard on saxophone. I recently recorded my second album featuring a trio with Steve Haines on bass, Jason Marsalis on drums, guest appearances by guitarist Doug Wamble and saxophonist Branford Marsalis, and engineered by Chris Stamey. I am available for concerts and clinics at high schools or colleges, and accept commissions for big band compositions/arrangements. My arrangements have been performed or recorded by the UNT Two O'Clock Lab Band, the Dallas Jazz Orchestra, the Columbus Jazz Orchestra, the Ashland University Jazz Ensemble, the Luther College Jazz Band, the Otterbein College Big Band, and many other regional jazz orchestras and small colleges.
