Mariachi Imperial has outstandingly been performing for over 20 years. Under the direction of Jose Longoria, this mariachi has managed to record their first CD, entitled Son de Ambiente. Their second CD, released in 2005, is entitled Mas Alla de Mi Mxico. Mariachi Imperial has received various awards and accolades include winning 1st place at the MariachiVargas Extravaganza, and at the Houston Live Stock Show and Rodeo. They were placed as semifinalists at the 1st Mariachi Competition in La Basilica de San Juan in San Juan, Tx. Mariachi Imperial has also been voted the ..1 mariachi in Houston by The Houston Press newspaper. They have been featured on many special show events like the Good Morning America Show and the Selena Vive concert.
Mariachi Imperial consists of family members as well as close friends. Its members represent various regions of Mexico including Guanajuato, Tamaulipas, Zacatecas, and San Luis Potosi. Aside from participating in Mariachi, Mariachi Imperial members hold full time jobs or attend school. Nevertheless, its members are dedicated to this group, and have greatly contributed to its overall success.
Their charisma and overall love for mariachi music distinguishes Mariachi Imperial from other mariachi groups. They transmit their enthusiasm and love for their music through their performances. They not only sing, but they also dance and encourage audience participation. Their repertoire consists of a diverse mixture of music, which often includes theatrical imitations of various artists such as Juan Gabriel, Jose Alfredo Jimenez, and Vicente Fernandez.
Mariachi Imperials greatest satisfaction comes from making people happy. Together, Mariachi Imperial strives to create cultural awareness by carrying on one of Mexicos greatest traditions, while striving to bring joy to many peoples lives.
