About Me
Roosevelt Darnell Mansfield III (RDM), one of the Twin Cities hottest MCs, was born and raised in St. Paul, Minnesota. RDM jumped onto the hip-hop scene in the early 90's as part of the Mega-P (Megalopolis Productions) with Knowledge MC (306entertainment). In the mid 90's RDM became an influential part of the Twin Cities hip-hop scene as a member of the critically acclaimed Abstract Pack. While with the Abstract Pack, RDM opened up for legendary hip hop acts The Sugar Hill Gang, BizMarky, Dana Dane, Mc Lyte, The Liks, Common, and the Boot Camp Click. The Abstract Pack's album "Bousta Set It" was named the "..1 Hip-Hop Album in the Twin Cities" by The Pulse Magazine in April of 1999. '99 also gave the Abstract Pack the title of "Best Local Rap Group", from the City Pages Magazine. Prior to the accolades, in the summer of 1998, the Abstract Pack went their separate ways, breaking up to persue different things. RDM took some time away from hip hop to focus on his new family, all the while, continuing to write lyrics and perform for kids at the elementary school where he was employed. In 2000, RDM made his solo debut, performing at venues such as the Mall Of America, the Quest (where he opened up for Bizzy Bone of "Bone Thugs In Harmony"), and First Avenue (where he performed with Mint Condition, RL of "Next" and Ali Shaheed Muhammad of "A Tribe Called Quest"). Also in his debut, RDM was featured on indie record projects such as "The Kanser Troops Quintessential", which received high marks in The City Pages, and The Stereotype Click's "The Children of the Snow". RDM was featured last year in the City Pages Magazine article on Minnesota's hip-hop history (Vol 25, 8/18/2004). In the summer of 2004 RDM pioneered as the first artist/act to perform at the annual Gus Macker Basketball Tournament in Saint Paul, continuing this new Macker tradition in 2005. RDM has also rocked performances at the Rondo Days Festival, Lake Hiawatha Neighborhood Festival, The Lab, Loring Pasta Bar, The Dinky Towner, The Rock, The Annex, and many other local venues. As his solo career progresses, RDM has evolved into a well-rounded artist, producing and engineering songs on his EP "The RDM Experience", as well as taking a chance at writing R&B lyrics for other local and out of state talent. RDM's first single, "This is How We Roll (Flaussin')," received airplay on Minneapolis radio stations. Currently RDM is collaborating with a Chicago based organization and is scheduled to have another EP release very soon. His lyrics have taken a political edge which you're sure to enjoy in some of his upcoming releases. RDM continues to collaborate with long time friend, Knowledge MC. Look for more to come from their new contribution to Minnesota hiphop: Full Time Game Spitters; featuring RDM, Knowledge MC, The Ghetto Poets (St. Paul), and Milk Bone (Dawson, GA).RDM's mission and goal is to show, prove and "represent realness" both in life and within the art of hip-hop. For RDM, keeping 'realness' in the art of hip hop means to stay original, not sound like his influences, and not be afraid to try new things with his music. RDM hopes to motivate, and inspire hip hop lovers of all ages through his music, by proving that hip hop can be positive and still make your head bob. RDM strives to share his love of hip hop with the masses.MySpace Codes
