Bushell

After a couple years cutting their teeth with various Manchester bands, ‘Bushell’ were founded by brothers Paul and Mark Bushell. “We wanted to make good songs fashionable again,” stated Mark. “We always despised what was seen to be fashionable, and we couldn’t stomach being a part of it”. Paul goes on to say, “I didn’t want to be heralded as the new ’Razorlight’ or ‘Coldplay’. I just wanted to be me”.It makes for a refreshing change that siblings Paul and Mark want no part of the increasing ‘NME’ or ‘X-Factor’ culture. They want their unique sound and innovative songs to speak for themselves. And with songs ranging in topics as diverse as inner city schools to Wythenshawe girls, it’s no surprise they are regarded as some of the finest muses on the current scene. They shun the corporate deals that have been offered in favour of the smaller independent releases. The Bushell mantra is “It’s not about living to excess or selling your soul for a deal… it’s about the symbiotic relationship between the songwriter and those who choose to be a part of that experience”.
