About Me

Matt Deaton is one of Texas brightest up and coming artists and has been touring the state and beyond for the past 3 years making new fans everywhere he goes. With his high energy and entertaining show he has found himself sharing the stage with Texas biggest names and making new fans each and every day.It all started in early 2003 when Matt was in school in Brownwood, TX. He had been playing guitar and singing his songs for friends for a while and was encouraged to start his own band.I thought it would be fun to play on the weekends, so I asked a friend of mine, Chuck Johnson, if he would play drums and start a band with me, says Matt. A few weeks later they had the rest of the band together and Front Porch Texas was formed.During the early days Matt and the guys would play locally in Brownwood, Comanche, San Angelo and Abilene and quickly started to gain new fans. Very soon they became friends with Texas Artist Aaron Watson and several others that would take them on the road to all parts of the state. It was cool to go to towns where we didnt know anybody, play our show and then be invited back to headline next time, it was around this time that we new something was happening to the band and we could take this on full timeAfter 2 years of living in Brownwood and building a fan base, Matt, James and Chuck decided that they needed to re-locate to a music city if they were going to continue to grow, so in September 2005, Front Porch Texas packed up their stuff and headed to Austin. It was at this time that we decided to add Matts name to FPT, says James. We had many line up changes in the past and without all of the original members it didnt quite feel the same, we wanted to make it easier for people and to clear up any confusion, after all, without Matt singing their wouldnt be any FPT.As soon as the guys got to Austin they started working on the debut album and in July 2006 released Country Songs. It has been a learning process along the way but we are all very, very proud of what we have made, and so far the reaction from the fans has been awesome.Matt Deaton and FPT are now moving into full gear, the single country song has been released to Texas radio and is still at number 2 at www.radiofreetexas.org and the album just charted on the Roots Country Chart. The guys are on the road every weekend so grab a cab full of buddies and make a trip to the next show and if you dont have a CD yet you can order one today!
Here is a list of the radio stations that have a copy of the single "Country Song". If there is one near you and you want to hear the song, then give them a call during their request show's and ask them to play it!!

Are you famous when people request that you write a new blog for everyone to read because it's been quite a while?  Don't answer, because I want to believe that the answer is, "Yes."  This p...

Tough, But Fair

Well, I knew that our luck fighting the man wouldn't last too long.  Our trailer was towed away this weekend over it being parked in front of my house.  The tow-guy was nice enough to only t...

What Weekends?

This music thing is a lot of fun to be a part of, but sometimes people forget what I do for a living. They will call me and ask, "Hey, what are you doing the weekend of the 'blankety-blank'?" They are...
