after the devastation caused by hurrican katrina...i was compelled to journey down to new orleans in search of answers, in search of stories, in search of musicians with songs to sing...on my journey,i met several interesting people and talented street musicians and a few musicians in clubs...stumps the clown, a guy named nick that played guitar, lisa and her gravelly bluesy voice at checkpoint charlies... cafe brasil was having some kind of open mic night and 2 people sang "I am weary" while others read tragedy inspired poetry..."pallet on your floor" was stumps the clown playing his dobro in front of the abbey, the song came to an abrupt end when some drunk cat was standing too close to him and he got pissed...unnamed song was roberta singing "love in my baby's eyes"...i have more crude recordings to add eventually...all of the recordings were done on a pocket size digital voice recorder and edited in AcidPro to reduce external noise and unwanted "highs" and/or "lows"...in the spirit of alan lomax, here is my humble page!!
