Continuously perfecting his craft by learning all aspects of video and film making, Darren Brown continues to refine his cinematic expertise with vivid storytelling and alluring cinematography.Darren was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. He was always fascinated with the creative process of any genre of artistry, rather it be writing, drawing, or photography. Rather then allow his interest become a mere pipedream Darren penciled his first full-length screenplay at the age of 18. Aware of the limited connections with the industry in Detroit, He took it upon himself to produce and direct the film In love With Lust.Receiving many accolades for his sensual soul stirring cinematography of this coming of age love story provoked Darren to further look for advanced training in filmmaking. “The more I know and understand the more creative I can be.†Says Darren Brown. Darren has learned in a short period of time what most hasn’t learned in their whole career in filmmaking. Darren has been trained in steadi cam by Peter Abraham notably known for The Notorious Big’s Juicy video, Cribs, Hoffa, Mary J. Blige videos, 1996 olmypic games and many more. Also extensively trained with the Telly award winning Ken Baker Jr. on all aspects of editing.In 2004 Darren launched his own company D.M Films with the help, support and business savvy of Dikea Taylor, Ken Baker and Jerome White. They went on to produce many music videos for independent hip hop artist who could not afford big budget video production but still craved for big budget quality. Shortly after D.M Films became the biggest and most revealed film company in the Detroit’s metro area. Producing Videos and shows for such artist as Nicci Gilbert’s reality show Soul Kitten’s Starring Angie Stone, Kenya Moore, Tatyana Ali, Monifah and many more, and also Proof and Bizzare’s Who Wanna Battle DVD. They won Midwest audiences over with their production of the movie Project 313. This movie was instantly christened an independent cult classic and revealed the best cinematically appealing film to come out of Detroit, from an independent film company. This accolade afforded them an opportunity to be official selection to sold out audiences in the Pan African Film Festival and distributed through Universal’s Bungalow distribution.Always priding themselves on intoxicating story telling and visually appealing cinematography Jay White and Darren Brown will go on to produce a short entitled “Death to the Scorpionâ€. The short was first shown at the African Black Film Festival to a private audience. The audience was so enthralled by the story telling and vivid imagination of the writer and director, Bill Duke of Duke media immediately offered them a deal to produce this Multi million dollar super action film.Still absorbing and finding new ways to eliminate the box of thinking, Darren Brown brings a trademarked style that is clearly poised and pushes the envelope with vivid cinematography, compelling story telling and fervent and imaginative music videos. Accomplishing so much in so little time is what drives Darren to set new bars for his own work.
