About Me
*"Rallye/klee is our favourite japenese label ,releasing great music from artists we love"-Gildas&Masaya (Kitsune)
*"Reserving judgements is a matter of infinite hope", says Fitzgerald, and Rallye/Klee embodies this ideal of openness to the point of looking overseas for budding artists and labels and trusting them to find an audience in Japan. Fumi from Rallye has an ear that is never tired nor cynical, and without such ears the world would be a very sad place to live in. Institubes is very proud to be released by Rallye/Klee"-Jean-René Etienne(Institubes)
*"Japan has always been a bit of an outsider in the World music market with it's own domestic market of J-Pop artists dominating the scene, but in recent years Fuji Rock and Summer Sonic have proven that the youth of Japan are also hungry for the exciting indie sounds of the UK and USA, Australia, France, etc. Rallye and Klee are ground breakers, introducing new, innovative outsider artists like Klaxons, Au Revoir Simone, Surkin, Lo-Fi Fink for those of us looking for more "art" in the music. Viva Rallye! Viva Klee! This is a new generation. This is the new scene!"-Paul James (Vanity)
Rallye Label is a very small Japanese indie label located in a small local city called Kanazawa (It is known for its beauty.) Fuminori
Chikakoshi (aka Fumi) manages it on his own. "LOST PONY" (this is Fumi and two friends' unit) by FOLON was the first CD released from
Rallye Label in 2002. They were not serious, but released it for fun. However, in 2004, Fumi decided to run the label for real. He released
CDs of wonderful artists like: Coralie (JAP), PSAPP (UK), JUNIOR BOYS (CA), and CERTAINLY SIR, and a compilation album "Rallye Cloak 01."
In 2005, Rallye began releasing CDs once a month-AU REVOIR SIMONE(US), CHIN CHIN (UK), PANACHE (SWE), DIFFERNET (SWE), "Rallye Cloak 02" (VARIUS), GARDEN (UK), and MONTAG (CA). In autumn, Rallye invited AU REVOIR SIMONE and MONTAG to Japan, with shows in four different cities. That was the first time for Rallye. AU REVOIR SIMONE wore one of the most wonderful clothes brand, "mina perhonen" for this tour and gained the overwhelming support of young Japanese girls (The Japanese famous fashion magazine "SPUR" featured that). Finally, Rallye was recognized by fans who love music, artists, bands, DJs and etc.
In 2006, Rallye launched a new side label "Klee". The label was established in order to introduce any radical artists and bands in the world to Japan. KIM(aka THE PRESETS), SIMIAN MOBILE DISCO, DAMN ARMS, VALENTINOS participated in the compilation album released from
Klee. Moreover, the album of KLAXONS(UK), KIM/THE PRESETS(AUS), LO-FI FNK(SWE),DAMN ARMS(AUS),MIDNIGHT JUGGERNAUTS(AUS),THE VALENTINOS(AUS),BOYS OF BRAZIL(UK),DANANANANAYKROYD(UK),SURKIN(FRA) was also released.
The music scene of Japan has been in the worst situation in the past several years. The mass media controls people and they just believe its information. Magazines and TV persist only in the major artists who offer immense advertising money or the artists of their own country. That is, for the indie label, which releases CDs of
international artists, it is in a severe situation. At last, most indie labels dealing in international artists€,, works have disappeared. Fumi wants to change this situation and he believes that he can do it. Rallye/Klee thinks that it is necessary to gain understandings of artists who release their CDs from Rallye and
supports from fans who really love music. Yes, Rallye always needs your music fan's support. YEAH!(*Thanks, Paul !)
