About Me

Myspace Layouts - Myspace Editor - Image Hosting

G'day, my name's Rube.....(the first bit's enough if ya only want the basics, but read passed the pics if u wanna know more). I'm a teacher, a drummer and a Dad to 3 beautiful kids. I played in a Sydney based rock band called HEIFER for 16 years, but I've recently left. I had the good fortune in that time to tour Europe twice (Germany, Belgium, Holland) play in maximum security prisons, have high rotation national airplay, make vids that were on RAGE and extreme sports doccos, supported heaps of well known bands....We made bugger all money, but had a ball!!I love MUSIC and seeing a good live band. They're good if they give me goosebumps...."YES music" I call it - (you know at the end of a GREAT song when you yell out....YEEEEEEEEEESSS!!!!) I like loud V8 engines, dirtbikes, driving fast, power-tools and farmwork. I prefer workboots to sneakers, t-shirts to ties and Soundgarden to Slipknot. I also have a deep respect for spirituality, not religion. I value HONESTY and hate deliberate lies and DECEPTION.
I like words. I also like to write. I hate spelling mistakes and mispronunciations but I like listening to people who speak eloquently even if I disagree with what they are saying.....I feel the same about a lot of metal bands....I love the music, but the shit they sing about brings me no pleasure. I might as well put a backing track to the whining of my neighbour's Doberman. Funny though, lyrics aren't particularly important to me (usually), but melody is.HEIFER - "I JUST WANNA KILL YOU" ..HEIFER - "THE JUDAS BELT"

My Interests

MySpace Tickers: CoolSpaceTricks.comLOVE, family, feet, aesthetics, songs in 6/8, symmetry, birds, fatherhood, showing affection, you, cows, class mixed with a down-to-earth attitude, things that work, laughing, getting my money's worth, denim shorts, CAMP FIRES, SUNSETS, discovering what makes women tick, dirt bike racing, sortin' shit, lazy days, fast things, loud things, other people's motivations, growth, inappropriatness, swimming holes, debates, mucking up on New Years Eve (and here and there in between),tropical gardens, RAINFORESTS, spoonerisms (or is that roonerspisms?), making out, OLD FORDS, animals, American Indians, rivers, 'cattle days' on the farm, justice, Buddhist sayings, funny people, eloquence, taking photos.I love taking pics of people, animals, nature scenes, landforms....anything that constitutes EYE-CANDY really. The pic below was taken by me at a friend's wedding. I love how the sun illuminates this beautiful woman's face and the kiss radiates on the face of the little boy. A precious scene that encapsulates a special bond and a mother's love. The pic below was taken outside a gig venue in Biberach, Bavaria...Just loved their "randomness". Those German Autobahns are a bit of fun too!....and this was in the tour van with 5 guys and a full load AND we were in the SLOW lane! ..

I'd like to meet:

Anyone who loves MUSIC and someone with Tourette's Syndrome...ARSEHOLE...but particularly genuine people who have their priorities right in life....SHIT....(and actually stay in touch on this website and aren't trying to sell me something). Anyone with interesting pics to show....FUCK OFF....love a good photo. Anyone who loves their kids. Anyone who loves music...ARSE....I was also hoping to meet Steve Irwin one day, but a bit of a...ARSEWIPE...mishap put paid to that. I feel so sorry for his kids.....BULLSHIT....Children need a Dad who loves them more than life itself. R.I.P Steve....

Music:

I mostly like heavy, fuzzy riffs that GROOVE. As a friend of mine once said, "if it ain't got groove it ain't got shit". If it has to have vocals....I like strong, clean ones. STONER ROCK is a PASSION for me these days. Love syncopation and ODD TIME rhythms in drumming and riffing too ('mathematical music' some call it). 4/4 can get a bit boring after a while. The GROOVE thing is important. This could be in a whole album, a whole song, a section of a song, a rhythm, a voice, a melody, a machine....whatever. Music is, to the ear of the listener, what beauty is to the eye of the beholder. I'd hate to be DEAF :)

Movies:

School of Rock, Lord of the Rings trilogy, The Man from Snowy River, The Emerald Forest, The Party, Some Kind of Monster (Metallica docco), Young Guns, The Shawshank Redemption, Pirates of the Carribean.

Television:

Two and a half men, Enough Rope, The Simpsons, I'm also a sucker for a good nature docco....lol! Not a lot on telly these days though that grabs my attention. I'd rather be on myspace!!

Books:

.. I work with books, so in my downtime I like to stay away from them...unless they have lots of pictures :) I prefer to do things other than read for relaxation.

Heroes:

My 3 beautiful kids, My Dad, Steve Irwin, John Stanier (ex-Helmet drummer, now in "Battles" and part-time member of "The Mark of Cain") and anyone who can display humility and forgiveness. Difficult things to do, only wise people can. They are heroes to me.
