We don't stop playing because we get old, we get old because we stop playing :)

About Me

[APPARENTLY] I talk a lot, so grab a coffee (or something stronger) and get comfy because this could take a while... Born and bred on the beautiful Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia, I spent 18 years doing law, 7 of which I was also a bass player in an all girl rock band (Girl Nation) in the early 90s. After Girl Nation ceased to be I was then in an original band (Cherry Dust) for a while. A white collar worker by day...nothing a little rock can't cure by night! I also have my own business making all natural home and body/haircare products, and a Diploma in Feng Shui. I'm into recycling and try to do my bit for the environment. I like to think there's more to our lives than just our existence on this earth, and I'm a big believer in karma. I'm very independent. I'm critical of others...but more so of myself. I can also be bossy, opinionated, and sarcastic, and have a habit of saying what I think, but at least I'm true to myself and others. In my opinion honesty is usually the best policy. That's why all my friends come to me for advice...but not so much for sympathy ;) I love good conversation. I also love no conversation...a knowing silence between people is a wonderful feeling. I find it hard to relax as I feel there's always too much to do. I consider myself shy by nature but those who know me laugh at that self-analysis so I guess I'm just shy around people I don't know well. I love to laugh. I'm a total dork at times and completely OK with that. I absolutely LOVE my life! I don't need alcohol or drugs to have a good time. I try not to pre-judge people, for everyone has their story. I have been blessed with a beautiful family and awesome friends, but I know life can be short, sometimes cruel and unfair and hard to understand, so I try to take nothing for granted and make the most of every opportunity that comes my way.

"I believe that the very purpose of our life is to seek happiness..." - Dalai Lama
"My religion is very simple, my religion is kindness" - Dalai Lama
As we grow up we learn that even the one person that wasn't supposed to ever let you down probably will. You will most likely have your heart broken more than once and it will be harder every time. You'll break hearts too, so remember how it felt when yours was broken. You'll fight with your best friend. You'll blame a new love for things an old one did. You'll cry because time is passing too fast, and you'll lose someone you love. So take many pictures, laugh too much, and love like you've never been hurt because every 60 seconds you spend upset is a minute of happiness you'll never get back.

You're the perfect girl for most guys
Pretty yet approachable. Beautiful yet real. What Famous Pinup Are You?
You Are a Peacemaker Soul
You strive to please others and compromise anyway you can.
War or conflict bothers you, and you would do anything to keep the peace.
You are a good mediator and a true negotiator.
Sometimes you do too much, trying so hard to make people happy.
While you keep the peace, you tend to be secretly judgmental.
You lose respect for people who don't like to both give and take.
On the flip side, you've got a graet sense of humor and wit.
You're always dimplomatic and able to give good advice.

My Interests

I LOVE live music...no 'doof doof' dance clubs for me! Stand up comedy...nothing beats laughing till you cry :) I try to live well and keep fit and healthy (with as little gym as possible!) I am fascinated by other people's cultures and lifestyles so I visit a different country every year, although I hate the literal part of travelling - motion sickness sucks :( I'm a shopping addict and can go into ANY shop and ALWAYS come out with something! I'm forever renovating my home due to my love of interior decorating and Feng Shui, and making crafty things. I also love thunderstorms, fireworks, fairy floss, the smell of rain on freshly cut grass, the colour green, snuggling under a warm doona on a cold winter night, and silence...sometimes silence is underrated.
I dislike liars, people who take advantage of others, those who bludge off society, people who have no regard for our declining environment, criminals, cruelty to animals, narcissism, and spelling errors...they really irk me.

I'd like to meet:

The Dalai Lamai...what an amazing human being! And REAL people...Ken and Barbie are way too overrated and you just can't have a decent conversation with them! Btw, I like to chat with my friends, not increase my numbers or yours, so if you can't be bothered reading about me please don't waste time requesting me.

I'm a rock chick at heart...hard rock, classic rock, AOR, soft rock, glam rock, pub rock, Oz rock...if it rocks, I love it!! Having said that however, I also enjoy other genres depending on my mood...just no hiphop/dance/techno/rap crap. To name a few of my favourites...AC/DC, Aerosmith, Bon Jovi, The Babys, Bryan Adams, Baby Animals, Bad English, Cheap Trick, Choirboys, Cinderella, Cold Chisel/Barnes, Creed, The Cult, The Cure, Def Leppard, DeMont, Dragon, Eagles, Elvis, Europe, Extreme, Faith No More, John Farnham, Lita Ford, Foreigner, Firehouse, Lou Gramm, Guns N Roses, Heart, House of Lords, INXS, Iron Maiden, Joan Jett, Journey, KISS, Avril Lavigne, Led Zep, Loverboy, Maroon 5, Matchbox 20, Bob Marley, Alanis Morrisette, Motley Crue, Mr Big, Nickelback, Noiseworks, Steve Perry, Pink, The Police, Poison, Powderfinger, Prince, Suzi Quatro, Queen, Rainbow, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Rolling Stones, Roxus, Scorpions, Screaming Jets, Skid Row, Skunk Anansie, Slade, Slaughter, Bruce Springsteen, Rod Stewart, The Sweet, The Tea Party, Tesla, Thin Lizzy, Thirsty Merc, Tonic, Toto, Train, U2, Van Halen, Vixen, Warrant, White Lion, Whitesnake, Robbie Williams...phew the list is endless! Cheap Trick - The Flame Thin Lizzy - Boys Are Back in Town Def Leppard - Love Bites Deep Purple - Hush

Movies:

I love horror..all the oldschool stuff, plus Saw 1&2&3&4 (the BEST horror series ever!), Hostel, The Others, Sixth Sense
Movies that make me feel something like Shawshank Redemption, Elephant Man, Pay It Forward, Forrest Gump, The Green Mile, and anything with Morgan Freeman.
Comedies like 40 Year Old Virgin, Meet the Parents/Fockers, American Pie.
Plus lots of movies from the 80s...
Oh...and Rockstar...an alltime favourite!!

Television:

I try not to watch too much TV but it's a good way to zone out for a while so OK...I admit I have a fondness for Home and Away...come on, who can honestly say they don't know who Alf and Sally are?! I also enjoy Underbelly, Nip Tuck, Moonlight, Weeds, Kalifornication, Prison Break, Supernatural, plus good old comedies like Everybody Loves Raymond, Friends, Married With Children, Will & Grace, Kath & Kim, King of Queens, Home Improvements etc.

Books:

Two of my favourites are The Art of Happiness by the Dalai Lamai and at the other end of the scale Rock Bottom by Pamela Des Barres. I mostly read nonfiction books, autobiographies and serial killer stuff. But on the other hand I can never pass up a good horror...anything by Stephen King, Dean Koontz or Clive Barker.

Heroes:

My dad who died from leukaemia a few years ago...and my mum for being our rock when the world as we knew it crumbled beneath us. I strive to live my life by their standards...hardworking and honest, and believe in the motto "do unto others as you would have them do to you".
I also admire people who pursue their dreams, who are not afraid to stand out and stand up for what they believe in, activists for animals and basic human rights, and those who have gone through the darkest of times and come out on the brighter side.

Thinking about my dad...

Our parents cast long shadows over our lives.  When we grow up we imagine that we can walk into the sun, free of them.  We don't realise until it's too late, that we have no choice in the ma...
