I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

I freakin hate computers on every level. I do like dogs and cats, evergreen trees, and vegan food. I love dearly & esp. LP, Hux, Diva, Sophie D-O-G, and the feeling that things might just go spinning out of control at any second. Oh, I also hate all the shitty advertising on this website (and in the world in general), I mean really Tom, couldn't I at least get an option to have the advertising that is not primarily based on showing some womans' cleavage? Oh yeah, aside from ranting about the demeaning nature of of advertising (and on a larger scale, our entire civilization), I'm doing about the same thing in a hardcore punk band called High Priests of Panic , am working with my compatriot Damon on putting together a zine about called "Prisoners' Dilemma" (not about the prison industrial complex, actually... more on this later), and am spending way to much time these days in front of a computer, and not enough time in face to face interactions. I pay my rent by working in direct services for homeless youth and young adults, and in my spare time, I work on one of the several ongoing Seattle Food Not Bombs projects. What else to say? ..This profile was edited with MySpace Profile Editor MySpace Profile Editor

My Interests

books. dumpsters. walking (especially with my dog Huxley, and our best buddies Soph's and LP). making sure that people get food without having to pay for it (it is a right after all). playing all ages punk shows with my band. editing zines. thinking and writing about community, revolution and total industrial collapse. basic run of the mill stuff.

I'd like to meet:

People working on worthwhile projects resisting our ongoing domestication and control by the powers that be... Also a magical winged unicorn. Of course, we aren't really meeting, now are we? Just communicating via a massive network of computers, wires, and such...If I don't know you already, I'm not real likely to just want to be friends just cuz you have cool hair or sent me a request or some shit (unless you are a magical winged unicorn). That doesn't mean you shouldn't contact me of course...Perhaps someday I'll actually meet you even, in the real world (yeah right, I'm a reclusive dude!)

Music:

political punk and hardcore, folk, reggae, assorted artists from a variety of genres. No racist, sexist or homophobic shit.

Movies:

I have an incredible abilty to immerse myself in movies, whether good or not. No tolerance for really bad shit though (the Aviator, Armaggedon, etc). Point Break comes to mind as a stand out work of cinemagraphic genius- Busse & Swayze, in one surf filled package. Even when I like movies as entertainment, I'm often highly critical of them on a deeper level (ie reinforcement of societal assumptions, gender roles, etc). For a fascinating look at the unexamined but hegemonic christian patriarchal white supremacist beliefs of America in the 1950's I highly suggest the revealing (and utterly attrocious) "Robot Monster" in 3-D.

Television:

sucks. i did just see an interesting thing on the history channel about what would happen if humans disappeared. it was a green anarchist wet dream, except that i'd like to think that we can do away with civilization without going extinct. it might be wishful thinking though... anyway, our non-existence wouldn't matter a whole lot, which is good.

Books:

Books and other shit by: Edward Abbey, Chinua Achebe, Alexander Berkman, Noam Chomsky , Aaron Cometbus, Voltairine De Cleyre , Jared Diamond, Stanley Diamond, Ralph Ellison, Karin Fransson, Free , Giovanni , Emma Goldman , Griff , Daniel Guerin, Ernest Hemingway, bell hooks , Derrick Jensen , Jack Kerouac, Ken Kesey, Peter Kropotkin , Wolfi Landstreicher, Ursula LeGuinn, George Orwell, Pulon, Elisse Reclus, Rob Los Ricos , Christian Parenti, Daniel Quinn, Edward Said, Shabba! , Vandana Shiva, Henry Thoreau, Linda Tuhiwai-Smith, Kurt Vonnegut, John Zerzan, Howard Zinn . Many others...

Heroes:

Emma, Kropotkin, Berkman, Malatesta. Maybe. People who's names I'll never know who throw the proverbial (and literal) spanner into the works... Ma nature. Josh Harper, Great Guy. Hero is a funny concept, but I deeply respect many people, and draw influence from them.

My Blog

To play the bars or not...

Angels

It's that time of year again... Seafair.  Hundreds of members of the navy and marines flood our little port town (or at least all the pioneer square bars), bringing with them gunships, a trident...

Depolicing ourselves

At the risk of once again sounding totally not-unique  and unoriginal, I've been thinking lots lately about how we allow for depolicing within our created communities, and eventually within our ...

plant a victory garden

The war against invasive weeds in the back yard (mostly ivy and a bit of morning glory, also himilayan blackberry) is far from won, but I've managed to clear out a pretty good sized area to grow stuff...
