One Day At A Time

About Me

Going through my 1/3rd life crisis, trying to hold shit down while turmoil is brewing around me. Attempting to make life changes while facing an uncertain future and realizing that I must change in order to survive, adapt and grow mentally and spiritually. Evolve or die. BTW: That's me playing bass on the profile song by HPOP. I miss those guys and I miss those days, but they continue to prosper and grow in my absence. Best of luck guys. I love you all. Once I get going with Sockeye and SkiMask, we'll have to book some shows!

My Interests

Music, movies, comix, my cats and all nice cats, animals in general, superheroes, super villains, martial arts, boxing, Arnis/Kali and all forms of Filipino stickfighting. Benchmade and Spyderco knives, big and brutal outdoor camp knives like those from Cold Steel and Becker. Beat up Fender Squier Strat guitars. Line 6's incredible modeling stompbox guitar effects. Expensive Boss pedals, cheap DigiTech pedals, anything with the potential to make noise. Baby Glocks, Snubby S&W's, impact weapons, mutants, flashlights and tactical toys. Ps2 shooters and tacticals, Sega Dreamcast oldies, GameCube stuff, Nintendo handhelds and most video games. Brought home a bunch of belts in TaeKwonDo as a kid, planning on getting back into Filipino arts after a 6 month hiatus, my confidence is shaken and I have been away so long I am scared to pick it up again, I fear that I'll be too far behind to catch up and waste the class' time. Oh well, time to buck up and do it, I'm getting fatter by the day and my skills have probably diminished seriously. It's time to return to my teachers and tell them I'm ready to learn again with a clear head.

I'd like to meet:

Neurosis/Tribes of Neurot, open minded musicians, free of ego. Lamb of God, my doppelganger who's probably German, Johnny Cash, Dog the Bounty Hunter, Jesus, the man and legend. Albert Einstein, John Lennon, Gaston Glock.

Music:

Neurosis, Lamb of God, Amon Amarth, Pelican, Mastodon, Tool, NIN, Lady Sovereign, Tori Amos, Band of Horses, Goldfrapp, HateBreed, Melvins, HighonFire, The Cult, Johnny Cash, Slayer, Faith No More, Isis, Arch Enemy, High Priests of Panic, Sockeye :), Fugazi, Godflesh, Ministry, Sepultura, Helmet, Exhumed, Emperor, Isahn, Initial State, Antischism, Kiss it goodbye, King Crimson, Ladytron, Neko Case, Orbital, Motorhead, Minor Threat, Rollins, Strapping Young Lad, Born Against, Black Flag and lots more punk, lots more metal, jazz is cool, old country is cool, I will admit to enjoying lots of electronic and dance stuff too, like BT, Orbital, Chemical Brothers etc...Area 33 on Sirius Sattelite is cool too. So is their metal channel. Howard Stern's Sirius show is still awesome even though I don't listen as much as I used to.

Movies:

Tarantino and Rodriguez, Kurosawa, Takashi Miike, most Japanese horror, most Asian action and horror, Broken Lizard stuff (SuperTroopers, Beerfest etc.), John Woo, anything w/ Chow Yun Fat, Muppets, puppets, Peter Jackson, The Wicker Man (Original '70's), pretty much anything foreign or independent, big budget crap with lots of explosions, Alien, Aliens and Alien 3, (AvP sucked acidic saliva), French Connection type capers and robberies, most science fiction, lots of horror, Eli Roth is cool, John Carpenter is cool, Clive Barker is cool...feed me your recommendations, I am open minded.

Television:

Sopranos, Nip/Tuck, Simpsons, Family Guy, Scrubs (okay I hated it until recently), Rome, Big Love, Curb your Enthusiasm, Twilight Zone (Original), Military Channel, History Channel, Animal Planet.

Books:

Charles Bukowski, Hubert Selby Jr., Rollins, anything survival or how-to, martial arts, martial history, guns, the Fight Club/Choke guy...Pahliniuk I think, Ernest Boringw...I mean Hemingway, I have tried in vain to understand Nietszche over the years, but alas I am at a total loss to comprehend that raving, sick lunatic's bullshit.

Heroes:

My dad for everything, my grandfathers (RIP) for their legacy and presence, Master Sun Hwang for making me strong when I was weak, Ryan Greene and Christopher Turla, my teachers, for showing me something different and encouraging me, even when I felt like a noob. Steve VonTill and Neurosis for inspiring me and getting me through, Eric Wirkman for who he is, Ben Madonna for friendship , Joel Ferriero for making noise and staying in touch, Jon Holley for seeing the bright side when it's real fuckin' dark. David N. Thompson for being a teacher, friend and scratching post. And Shauna for loving me despite my faults, inconsistencies and my propensity to live in my own little world, outside of reality.
