About Me

Hailing from Southern New Brunsick Canada, Grand Theft Bus has garnered a reputation as one of Canada’s busiest and most exciting new bands. Although known for their sprawling exploratory live performances, the group’s first studio effort Birth of Confusion was extremely well received by both critics and fans alike, and serves well as an introductory probe into their vast repertoire of original material. On this album you’ll find an eclectic mix of tight, concise vocally driven pop songs to progressive instrumental compositions. Birth of Confusion bodes well as a solid debut and a stepping-stone as to what this group can offer in the future. This band is concerned with reinventing themselves musically and creating on their own terms. Grand Theft Bus develops their songs with unlimited creative freedom while maintaining the utmost respect for the listener. This band loves making music.

Since it’s inception in 2000 the band has performed over 400 shows, including sell out shows in Halifax, Montreal, Toronto, and Vancouver. Grand Theft Bus has also been a mainstay on the summer festival circuit including sold out performances at the Atlantic Jazz Festival, the Evolve Festival, Burlington Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom Music Festival and the Harvest Jazz and Blues Festival in Fredericton, New Brunswick. In their travels the band has had the honour of sharing the stage with Canadian rock icons The Rheostatics, The New Deal, The Constantines, and Righteous Babe recording artists Drums and Tuba.

Grand Theft Bus is excited about the April 2004 release of their sophomore album, Flies in the No Fly. This recording offers a very healthy evolution of the band, an array of experimental rock songs, focused on melody and texture. The band has truly progressed and with this album can offer something very accessible yet interesting and unique. Flies in the No Fly contains songs you’ll find humming to yourself after a first listen and textures that will continue to surprise after multiple listens.

With the addition of artist Nick (Phelvis) Lane. Grand Theft Bus has added another dimension to their live show . Nick has been inspiring the band by creating stage art and merchandise. The idea is to tie in different themes between the music, the visual aspect, and finding a way to involve the audience at performances. Look for a very interesting experience when witnessing Grand Theft Bus live.
