2010 ECMA Nominated and '09 Triple NSMW Nominee Andrew Hunter & The Gatherers serve rock and roll, straight up.
No auto-tune. No Lasers.
Just an electric guitar screaming through a Fender amp.
Hunter's songs and vocals move and stay with the listener much like Sam Nijjar's punishing bass and the insistent beat of drummer Bryan Page.Heavy hints of Zeppelin and The Stones, this is a band who's not afraid to show their influences. "Pearl Jam meets Neil Young & Crazy Horse,†says Q104 fm's Tom Bedell.
Born and raised in New Brunswick Hunter spent a good chunk of time living and surfing in Hawaii before settling in Halifax and forming the band in 2007. They have since toured across Canada and managed to score a Top 40 radio hit in 2009 with "The Feel Good Song" which was also featured on the International television series "Degrassi : The Next Generation".A new sound, a new energy, they are currently in production of a new release and tour set for fall 2010.Their recent accolades include:2010 ECMA Nomination for Rock Recording of the Year, SOCAN Songwriter of the Year (Hunter),New Artist/ Group Recording and Pop/Rock Recording of the Year Nominations for the 2009 Molson Music Nova Scotia Awards, Regional winner of the Canadian RadioStar National Songwriting Competition 2009; and selection as showcase artists at NSMW, ECMA and CMW 2009.
Bodog Music says of the band, "Songwriting is obviously their forte†and Q104FMs J.D. DeRosiers call them "One of the most full sounding three piece acts I have seen."
