About Me

Myspace Layouts - Myspace Editor - Image Hosting

After 21 long months we've finally returned home. I'm proud of what we did over there, but don't let anyone fool you with tales of valor and glory. Most of our time there was very dull and the biggest challenges were dealing with weather, boredom and an often apathetic or incompetent chain of command. But my time in Iraq is over for now, and hopefully for good. Now I'm working on learning to be a civilian, a son, a brother, an uncle and a friend again. I want to thank everyone here for all their kind words and support during my deployment. Your support means a great deal to us!Now that I'm home I'm trying to figure out what I enjoy doing. Not wearing body armor, being able to use indoor plumbing, sleeping in a big bed, motorcycling and enjoying the occasional adult beverage have been high on my list. Anyone with more good ideas? I'm open to suggestions!

My Interests

Motorcycling, weight lifting, rugby, bicycling, computer gaming, general fitness, military history, reading, writing and arithmetic.

I'd like to meet:

I'd like to meet Cameron Crowe, Joss Whedon, Stephen Hawking, Trey Parker and Matt Stone, Albert Einstein, and Samuel Clemens, and Robert Heinlein. JB and KG of course. Think they can all come to the welcome home party?I'd also like to meet everyone on my friends list I haven't yet met. Maybe we could do a meet up sometime after my current adventure gets over and done with. Vegas anyone?

Music:

Almost everything, except maybe hardcore rap, and I'm not a huge fan of country.

Movies:

I love all KINDS of movies, comedies, action, history, everything!

Television:

Buffy, Angel, Boston Legal, Lost, Myth Busters, and of course Sports Center. Tenacious D!

Books:

Historical fiction, sci-fi, biographies, how-to's.

Day 2? Ugh

Added some calesthenics to the mix last night. What would have been not very demanding two years ago was a kick in the pants, then 20 minutes on the eliptical machine. And what was my reward this morn...

Working out again, Day 1

Last night I started hitting the gym again. I pretty much gave up back in September and I've been pretty static since then.No point in bragging on my results, but just like we train in the Army...craw...

Currently I'm watching the Cubs attempt to lose a game to the Brewers. It's 1-1 for the series, and my Cubbies really need to win this one. So...everyone get your rootin' hats on.So things with the th...

WTF is wrong with me?

Sunday a buddy and I went for a long ride. As many twisties as we could find in SE Nebraska (not many) some speed, some sun, some cheeseburgers. It was a good time. After about five hours of hard pus...

Breaking a cycle

Everyone always asks me, either question one or shortly thereafter; "So, how are you adjusting." Generally I give the same reply. "Eh, it's some changes, but I'm doing OK."And honestly I am. Mostly.Bu...

I just don't understand men/women/martians

Probably the most cliche'd concept in American society is the battle of the sexes, and our lack of ability to understand one another. Men are from Mars, women are from Venus. Women must follow 'The Ru...

Vegas baby, the aftermath

Well, that was fast but alot of fun. Next time I think I'll try to stay for longer than two days. The craps tables at New York, New York were very generous, and I'm not really that good a player. Pret...
