About Me

Thank you for checking out the space. If you don't know my name is Ryan Rucker. I'm not a big fan of biography's because half the time they're written by the artist themselves and I don't care for talking in the 3rd person too much like "Ryan Rucker was born in..." no, I'm right here so I can tell you. A few quick facts about me as a person. I was born in Queensbury, NY on August 14th, 1986. I moved to Vacaville, CA on February 17, 2001. I graduated from Will C. Wood High school in 2004 where I did cross country, and was the captain of my basketball and track & field team. I also tripled jumped in the California state meet in 2004... just to let ya know. Um... I go to college and I work 2 different jobs so you might wonder when I had time to record my album... the answer is I can't tell you.
I'm ridiculously excited about my debut album "Upstate, NY" It took me a few months to record and I experimented with a lot of different sounds from processed synths, mid 80's type slow jam R&B, full orchestra's, acoustic guitar, even to techno. The format of the CD is different too. You might have noticed that there are 22 tracks on the album. I wanted the CD to follow a DVD type format meaning the sequence of songs follows a particular storyline. This album is more than a CD, it's a story with guest voices from Chelsea Militano who plays "Marissa", Jenna Silva who plays "Rachelle", and DeMario Jackson playing himself. The album is fun, definitely different, and very emotional as well but as they say in the infomercials "don't just take my word, see for yourself!" Honestly I've put just about all my time, all my effort, and A TON OF MY OWN MONEY into this project (why do you think I work 2 jobs? lol) so please check it out and purchase a CD.
Thank you for checkin it out and bumpin the music! I appreciate it soooo so much. Much more to come in the near future. Thanks for everything.

Influences:

Michael Jackson's been a musical influence of mine for as long as I can remember. By the time I was born the world had already heard the likes of "Rock With You," "Billie Jean," and a ton more. Say what you will about his life outside of the music but there has never another sole person who's influence popular music before or since the way MJ had. When you hear an MJ song you can feel it and I mean that. Not to mention the man put on an incredible live show and changed the way artists look at touring today.

It's hard to believe that the front man of one of the most succesful boy bands in history, Justin Timberlake, is probably my biggest musical influence. If you would have told me that when I was in 8th grade I would have laughed but it's true. I was a sophomore in HS when JT dropped his first solo album and the second I heard "Like I Love You" and my favorite song ever "Never Again" I've been his biggest male fan. And between you and I... I actually liked him in *NSYNC but never told anyone.

I'll admit, I didn't become a big fan of Prince's until a little over a year ago. One listen to his catolog of hits and I was hooked. With songs like "I Would Die 4 U," "I Feel For You" and "Uptown" I couldn't stop listening. Prince was able to step outside the box again and again and that's what makes him a musical genious in my eyes. Never did he conform to the norm like most artists today which is why I look up to Prince so much.

Other musical influences for me are...
James Morrison, Robin Thicke, John Legend, Ne-Yo, Marvin Gaye, Donny Hathway, Brian McKnight, Ready For The World, Stars, Broken Social Scene, Imogen Heap, Talib Kweili, Kanye West, Rick James, Maxwell, Usher, N.E.R.D., Notorious BIG, ODB, Goapele, Glen Lewis, Musiq, Dwele, Fall Out Boy, Panic!, Johnta Austin, Ryan Leslie, Donell Jones, Alicia Keys, The Fray, Timbaland, Richard Marx, Hall & Oats, T-Pain, Outkast, Calvin Harris, Boyz II Men
