NORA RICCI is a singer/songwriter full of passion, purity, and performance. Having traveled musical avenues her entire life, she has evolved into a mature artist that bleeds intensity and craft with every song.
Nora is highly skilled at playing the piano, percussion, and the guitar. She has studied percussion with Rastrapovich , Evelyn Glennie, Johnny Johnson, and James Sibley. She has attended a variety of performing arts schools, including North Carolina School of the Arts (percussion), the University of Richmond (percussion) , Salem College Music Conservatory (music composition), the University of Siena, Italy (music composition), and Wake Forest (percussion). She has a natural ear for melody and harmony and is governed by a rudimental military-style of drumming and rhythm.
After obtaining degrees of higher education and working mostly on neo-classical compositions, operas, and musicals, Nora decided to branch out and experiment with the guitar. The result was a blend of natural melody, poetic lyrics, and striking syncopation. The guitar has now become her main instrument for solo performance.
Nora’s songwriting and performance career have allowed her to travel around the east coast, guest speaking and performing at various high schools. She also has played most venues around central and eastern Florida, winning the title of Daytona Idol (2006), and performing as the featured artist for many Orlando hot spots. Her captivating original songs, and animated interaction with the crowd, are a perfect combination for a great entertainer.
With well over 75 original songs in her repertoire, Nora prefers to share with her audience the poignancy of her own lyrics, but also has mastered a collection of material for cover-friendly venues. She is a master of jazz/blues improvisation on the piano, and amazes her audience with the ability to jump from one instrument to the next.
Her voice is a soulful mix of Janice Joplin and Mazzy Star, Jewel and Macy Gray, with the percussive guitar rhythms of Ani Difranco, and the natural, soothing melodies similar to Sheryl Crow, Julie Roberts and Matchbox 20. Her pain and passion runs in the deep in much of her music, but her softer side and obvious affinity for words paints songs of beauty and peace.
Nora Ricci is a well-rounded entertainer who can captivate an audience with her music, her soul, and style.TI edited my profile with Thomas Myspace Editor V4.4 (www.strikefile.com/myspace)Masthead Banner Made with MyBannerMaker.com! Click here to make your own!
