About Me

NEWS - FEB 2007: Molly McAdams has confirmed the Atomic Hep Cats will enter the studio sometime in early March to record a brand new instrumental track for a compilation to benefit the Future of Music Coalition -- a non-profit organization that lobbies against radio consolidation and advocates fair distribution of money made from downloadable music sales. Sonic Youth, Bright Eyes, The Wrens, Apples In Stereo, and Bishop Allen are also contributing to the project. Recording will take place at Between The Trains Studio in Brooklyn, NY. Ms Adams would not confirm rumors the band may be recording additional tracks.
The Atomic Hep Cats are undisputedly one of the most revered underground bands of the last 11 years. They've released over 37 singles independently (7" vinyl only), and have toured with some of the most influential bands of the decade. By refusing to sign to a major label, the band has become notorious in the industry and enjoy veneration from critics and peers.
The Atomic Hep Cats last project joined them with Frank Black, Kristin Hersh, Matthew Sweet, John P. Strohm, The Dresden Dolls and many more covering songs from some of the 80's most hilarious teen films on the "HIGH SCHOOL REUNION" compilation. The Hep Cats covered Echo & The Bunnymen's "Bring On The Dancing Horses" which appeared in the John Hughes classic "Sixteen Candles".
