Bio 4 MakeShift ///
MakeShift AKA Jeremy Glenn has been interested in electronic music since he heard Electric Kingdom on the K-Tel "Breakdance" record of which he still owns the instructional poster for.
This love of early hip-hop, more than likely via the influence of early Motown R&B as well as popular hip hop of the time such as RUN-DMC, Grand Master Flash, LL Cool J and other old to new school artists, gave MakeShift an ear for sampled material and "the beat" for which rap is built from. Jeremy continued to follow the new school movement into it's further evolutions up to more current rap music through artists like the UMC's , Souls of Mischief , De La Soul, Pete Rock & CL Smooth, Gangstarr, Common (Sense) and A Tribe Called Quest .
But it wasn't until high school, when Jeremy's older brother began going to warehouse parties in the early 90's that Jeremy began listening to house and dance musics more religously. Jeremy began collecting garage and deep house records as well as continuing to build up a steady supply of underground hip-hop, R&B, funk, soul, reggae and rock.
While attending UWO in London, ON., Jeremy began DJing with London local AndyCapp at clubs such as DV8 and the Bacchus Lounge. This lead to Jeremy attending the Ontario Institute of Audio Recording Technology to learn more about music production.
4 years later, Jeremy now teaches the Desktop Production course at OIART and continues to hone his production skills as MakeShift producing an array of music that spans electro, glitch, house, techno, ambient, acid, funk, soul and many other genres. Though Jeremy intends to broaden this musical pallette with new groups for his other music, MakeShift has become an outlet for creating something out of little.
Jeremy has plans to move back home to Toronto to work on music full time as MakeShift and perform his music live through use of software like Ableton Live and Propellerheads' Reason . MakeShift continues to seek new musical ground as his career unfolds.
