Ridiculous things.
Bass playing and music mainly, but i love being out in nature. Im heaps into mountain biking, running, hiking and camping, and wish i still had the time to rock climb like i used to, talk about feeling free.
i love cooking, nothing better than knowing exactly what you want...and then making it and eating!!
Anything that captures my attention. I play bass, so the harder it is to play, or the more intelligent the writing, the better. Theres way too much to mention, and if i havent heard it yet im all for a listen, but for starters...
All genres of metal, the harder the better. Stuff like
Misery Signals
Psycroptic
Cryptopsy (minus Lord Worm...)
Opeth
Damaged
The Black Dahlia Murder
Ion Dissonance
All Shall Perish
Beneath The Massacre
Messhuggah
Hate Eternal
Scarve
Devolved
Cannibal Corspe
Deftones
Earth
Scarve
Deicide
Into The Moat
Infernal Method
Machine Head
Pantera
Frankenbok

Devin & Strapping Young Lad
The Amenta
Unearth
Parkway Drive
Astriaal
Pig Destroyer
Daysend
Dillenger Escape Plan
Protest The Hero
The Haunted
MM9
Destroyer666
Five Star Prison Cell
i have an extremely open mind to music so basically everything, just not too 'production-line'. Plus some softer stuff in the same vein like
Tool
Incubus (Dirk Lance is The Shit on S.C.I.E.N.C.E)
The Tea Party
Butterfly Effect
Perfect Circle
Regurgitator
Red Hot Chilli Peppers
Blink 182
The Police
Cog
You Am I
Dire Straits
Fleetwood Mac
Jack Johnson
Love Outside Andromeda
If i havent heard it, then SHOW ME!
I also listen to a bit of punk and hardcore, mainly the original newer style stuff like
NoFX
Offspring (the older stuff)
Frenzal Rhomb
Toe To Toe
Mindsnare
Rancid
Ceasefire(the older stuff)
Millencolin
Stretch Armstrong
Sick Of It All
anything with some pace.
I love hip hop, mostly Oz stuff
Muph
Lazy Grey
Plutonic Lab
Ivens
Hospice Crew
Layla
Aussie Diggers
Terminal Illness
Funkoars
Koolism
Pegz
Drapht
The Herd/Urthboy/Ozi Battla
Art of War
Lyrical Commission
After Hours
etc, but i also get into a bit of European and Canadian hip hop like
Dizzy Rascal
Swollen Members
Sweatshop Union
I like a bit of acoustic/soft electronic stuff sometimes
Sarah Blasko
Regina Spektor
Missy Higgins
Sia
Gortye
Doves
The Gorillaz
Dido
Portishead
etc, and am also starting to listen to harder electronic stuff like drum n bass, but i dont see that taking over from my favourites.
On top of that, i like anything thats technical or interesting. I dont know what genre id class Primus as, but they are probably my favourite band, and definitely my inspiration from day one. Les made me want to play bass, he showed me that bass especially, but all music in general, is bound only by your imagination, so keep it growing. Tales From The Punchbowl absolutely rocks, i listened to Professor Nutbutter and thought "....thats a bass player? they can do that?.... im gonna be a bass player..."
Theres so much more that i listen to, theres too many bands and groups to list off the top of my head, but keep it interesting and challenging and i'll probably like it.
Generally, mainly comedy stuff and complicated head-fuck movies , plus non fiction stuff like nature documentries and mountain biking dvds. more specifically, Donnie Darko, Groundhog Day, Fight Club, Buying The Cow, Old School, Biodome, Lost In Translation, Ace Ventura 1 (Cannibal Corpse!!!!!), Napolean Dynamite, Freddy Got Fingered, Thirteen, Bad Boy Bubby, Requiem For A Dream, all the Friday movies. Theres heaps more but they're just a few off the top of my head. Generally anything funny or fucked up.
i dont get to catch much TV but generally anything funny, and im all for shock value :D stuff like Arrested Development, Scrubs, Simpsons, Malcolm In The Middle, Family Guy, those sorts of shows.
i love nature doco's, i love seeing all the parts of the world i havent been to yet, the way the world has developed when humans havent gotten in the way, what has happened when we do (both good and bad) and learning about all the creatures we share this place with, i just find it utterly amazing.
