In 1997, the bright age of 14, M Watts started to play with words and write hooks which led to writing whole verses. Writing for fun turned into writing for notability. Family, friends and peers have all acknowledged how skillful his way of words were. This was the “push” that gave M Watts the drive that he has today. M Watts has been credited for co-writing two songs on Blackstreet’s album, “Level II”, released in March 2003; “Why, Why” and “Wizzy Wow”. By gaining experience and sharpening his skills, M. Watts and his trio group, The Cartel, landed a demo deal with Priority Records in 2001. Their mix tape, released in September of 2005, “Business as Usual” was a local hit. The Cartel was featured in the Source Magazines, November 2001 issue (Unsigned Hype) and the June 2005 issue (Off the Radar). Upon completion of “Business as Usual”, M Watts never slept on downtime. He was diligently working with DJ Lynch to successfully release his own mix tape “DJ Lynch Presents: Best of M Watts”. For a new act he began to grow fans noticeably. Doing shows with such artist as Lil Wayne, T.I., Juelz Santana and Young Jeezy. It was obvious that this kid, can hold his own. With fans shouting his name along with the chorus’s and saying his rhymes line for line. Its clear that with the right guidance and direction. M Watts can join the roster of fellow VA superstars Neptunes, Timbaland and Teddy Riley. M Watts is currently working on his first solo album entitled “The M Watts Project”. His first single off the album, “Brag & Boast” has already hit the radio waves, spinning in rotation.
