About Me
I'm a student at TN Tech majoring in electrical and computer engineering, looking forward to graduating. Right now I'm about to go on co-op for a year in Maryville before I come back and finish my last year at Tech. Someday I hope to go to graduate school tostudy bioengineering. I find the world amazing. I find beauty in the nightsky, in caves, on cliffs, in words, and, especially, in music. I love how nomatter what may be going on in my life, and no matter how I'm feeling, nomatter who I'm thinking about, or why I think of them, or what they think ofme I can always find that one song that describes everything so perfectly.

Where is the horse and the rider? Where is the horn that was blowing? Theyhave passed like rain on the mountains, like wind in the meadows. The dayshave gone down in the West, behind the hills, into shadow. How did it come tothis?

Anybody can look at a pretty girl and see a pretty girl. An artist can look ata pretty girl and see the old woman she will become. A better artist can lookat an old woman and see the pretty girl that she used to be. But a greatartist — a master — and that is what Auguste Rodin was — can look at an oldwoman, portray her exactly as she is… and force the viewer to see the prettygirl she used to be…. and more than that, he can make anyone with thesensitivity of an armadillo, or even you, see that this lovely young girl isstill alive, not old and ugly at all, but simply prisoned inside her ruinedbody. He can make you feel the quiet, endless tragedy that there was never agirl born who ever grew older than eighteen in her heart…. no matter what themerciless hours have done to her. Look at her, Ben. Growing old doesn't matterto you and me; we were never meant to be admired — but it does to them. Lookat her!

Victory in defeat, there is none higher. She didn't give up, Ben; she'sstilltrying to lift that stone after it has crushed her. She's a father goingdown to a dull office job while cancer is painfully eating away his insides,so as to bring home one more pay check for the kids. She's a twelve-year-oldgirl trying to mother her baby brothers and sisters because Mama had to go toHeaven. She's a switchboard operator sticking to her job while smoke ischoking her and the fire is cutting off her escape. She's all the unsungheroes who couldn't quite cut it but never quit.

I do not fear death. I had been dead for billions and billions of years beforeI was born, and had not suffered the slightest inconvenience from it.
-Mark Twain

I believe that when I die I shall rot, and nothing of my ego will survive. Iam not young and I love life. But I should scorn to shiver with terror at thethought of annihilation. Happiness is nonetheless true happiness because itmust come to an end, nor do thought and love lose their value because they arenot everlasting. Many a man has borne himself proudly on the scaffold; surelythe same pride should teach us to think truly about man's place in the world.Even if the open windows of science at first make us shiver after the cozyindoor warmth of traditional humanizing myths, in the end the fresh air bringsvigour, and the great spaces have a splendour of their own.
- BertrandRussell

Strange is our situation here on Earth. Each of us comes for a short visit, not knowing why, yet sometimes seeming to divine a purpose. From thestandpoint of daily life, however, there is one thing we do know: that man ishere for the sake of other men - above all for those upon whose smiles andwell-being our own happiness depends.
- Albert Einstein

Do I contradict myself?
Very well, then, I contradict myself;
(I amlarge - I contain multitudes.)

If only there were evil people somewhere insidiously committing evil deeds, and it were necessary only to separate them from the rest of us and destroythem. But the line dividing good and evil cuts through the heart of everyhuman being.

The gods can either take away evil from the world and will not, or, beingwilling to do so cannot; or they neither can nor will, or lastly, they areboth able and willing. If they have the will to remove evil and cannot, thenthey are not omnipotent. If they can, but will not, then they are notbenevolent. If they are neither able nor willing, then they are neitheromnipotent nor benevolent. Lastly, if they are both able and willing toannihilate evil, how does it exist?

You're the only one who can hold your head up high
Shake your fist at thegates saying,
"I have come home now...!"
Fetch me the Spirit, the Son,and the Father.
Tell them their pillar of faith has ascended.
"It'stime now!
My time now!
Give me my
Give me my wings...!"
Daylight dims leaving cold fluorescence.
Difficult to see you in thislight.
Please forgive this bold suggestion.
Should you see yourmaker's face tonight,
Look Him in the eye.
Look Him in the eye andtell Him,
I never lived a lie, never took a life,
But surely savedone.
Hallelujah
It's time for You to bring me home.
