Following the footsteps of his great-grandfather, grandfather, and dad, it only seems fitting that Bart Crow would end up making music his life. Raised by his parents, Lee and Beverly, life in Maypearl, TX was pretty simple. His mother worked for a chemical company, while his father worked long hours running his own drywall corporation. His father played lead guitar in a dancehall band throughout the 80s, and that is where it all began for Bart. "Dad had hundreds of great records from people like Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash, George Jones, Bob Wills, George Strait, Lynard Skynard, and The Amazing Rhythm Aces. I would sit and listen to them for hours and hours during the summer with my sister. She and I would have talent shows, just for ourselves, she would sing Charly McClain, and I would usually sing 'Amarillo by Morning' or 'Call Me The Breeze," said Bart. This led Bart, as a kindergarten student, to enter the All-School talent show. He sang "Swingin' " by John Anderson and won sixth place! Graduating high school in 1995, Bart joined the U.S. Army for a three year active duty tour. It was there, while stationed at Ft. Stewart, GA, that Bart taught himself chords on the guitar and began writing songs. It was more like a journal at first. After successfully completing his tour, Bart went back to Texas and enrolled at Tarleton State University in Stephenville. "When I got to Tarleton, there was this music thing going on, and great songwriters where coming to town to play, like Houston Marchman and Mike McClure, and they were doing this acoustic thing, and it was personal and it was awesome," said Bart. After two years of playing acoustic shows, Bart put a band together.
The Bart Crow Band is lead guitarist Paul Russell, drummer Drew Campbell and bassist Rocky Garza. Bart says, "In the couple of years that I was by myself, I was fortunate enough to meet, open for and befriend a lot of good people in this music circle here in Texas. I was able to develop my own ideas about how to operate and maintain a band. To me, it is simple. Everything is equal, period. Ideas, decisions, creativity and money. We are all pieces of the puzzle. We realize that we are good friends that have been blessed to follow our dreams, and for three years now, that is exactly what we have been doing. With the release of their much anticipated debut album, Finally, the band hopes to give back to all the great people that have supported them for the last three years. The record features eleven original songs written by Crow. "We have waited a long time for this record and everyone worked really hard. We know that this has taken us a long time to get here, but we think it is worth the wait. We are very excited about Finally, and are anxious to see how much better we can do on our next record, which hopefully will be a lot sooner than later!!"
