1. First of all, I am creating a new play, The Endless Frontier, as a part of the Resident Artist Workshop at 975 Howard/The Garage 975howard.com. I am also directing An Astronauts Guide to the Galaxy and we are presenting the two works as part of Space: an evening of experimental theater. I am working with a great group of collaborators on both pieces!

They say the universe is simultaneously expanding and contracting. Its effects can be felt in our American cities, where space and time are resources to be bought and sold, where our physical space collapses, and where technology simultaneously offers us an escape into infinite space. We will be investigating this peculiar human condition with Space, an evening of performances about the quest for space in modern society.
An Astronaut's Guide to Shooting StarsIn a surreal space landscape filled with absurdist humor, An Astronaut's Guide to Shooting Stars follows the story of Houston and the Astronaut, who become infatuated with a shooting star and voyage into outer space. Landing on [where?], they learn the shocking reality of their situation, and they must brave the forces of gravity before they can return to Earth. This experimental work explores the nature of desire for something "out there" and the need to escape. It employs physical theater, text, a capella song—and Spacedance, a movement piece for all hip astronauts-to-be. What is the price we pay for escaping gravity? And what are the effects of re-entry?

The Endless Frontier
Manifest Destiny is growing old atop a mountain of trash, the byproducts of obsessive consumption and discarded collections; she waits for a new frontier to conquer, to save herself from what she has become. Meanwhile, a surveyor and a scavenger undertake a journey to find and conquer the frontier for themselves—only to discover that it has become nothing more than a heaping pile of junk. The Endless Frontier is a story about three people seeking open space within the collapse of the American West. Using text, movement, puppetry, and original music, this piece explores the notion of consumption and expansion amidst a shrinking open landscape.

2. Furthermore, my play The Endless Frontier was one of 30 pieces accepted into the 2008 San Francisco Fringe Festival this summer ! I look forward to presenting an evening length version of this experimental musical as part of this international theater festival. Read more: www.sffringe.org
3. Finally, I am opening a new theater space in San Francisco's SOMA district with two other artists: Harvey Rabbit and Steven Tritto called Ko Labs ( www.kolabs.org coming soon!) Ko Labs is part of a buiilding housing Mama Calizo's Voice Factory ( www.voicefactorysf.com) and The Center for Sex and Culture ( http://www.sexandculture.org ). We are excited to debut a small blackbox theater that will house our collaborative and individual work as well as new works by performing artists throughout the Bay Area and beyond!
