Who Feels It, Knows It

About Me

Singer & Songwriter Michael Nagy grew up at 1219 Marin Avenue in San Pablo in the East Bay Area of San Francisco close to the home of many known artists including; Creedence,Tower of Power,Norton Buffalo,Sly Stone, YnT and Pablo Cruise. When Michael was 14 years old the steel company that his father worked for in Oakland/Alameda closed,so they headed north to Arcata a small city among the redwoods in Humboldt County on the north coast of California.
Around this time Michael discovered Bob Marley and reggae music. He became a musical gypsy, and started traveling to Redding,Red bluff California and Reno Nevada playing gigs with different band's,one called Premier".Their guitarist Jeff Northrup later went on to play with artists like Rail,King Kobra and Billy Thorpe. Michael also played in Reno Nevada in a band with Curt Mitchell (He's on all those guitar DVD's in your music store, play like Eddie Van Halen,Scorpions,Hendrix,...etc.. you name it!)
Venturing all over northen California playing in bands in Grass Valley,Red Bluff and Santa Rosa,Michael became friends with Paul Taylor who was a member of the Eric Martin band and had toured with Aldo Nova.He had Michael sing on one of his recordings and they jammed at some local clubs. Paul also played with Alice Cooper and formed the band Winger. He's writing in Nashville now with numerous credits.
It was around this time that Michael went on sort of a vision quest and had something occur .He recalls"It was a vision, a message and a calling that seemed to say to me that I should make music with a higher message akin to Bob Marley,Paul McCartney, sacred positive. It also seemed to tell me that I should aspire to be a significant role model and an example to lots of people. It was like looking into a spiritual mirror. That's the best I can describe it".
Michael and his three younger brothers formed a group called "Girl Patrol"who had alocal hit song that was played on local rock station KXGO called "You know I'll be there".He spent some time in Los Angeles with projects and bands that included: Ambre Rose, Blue Zoo (produced by Carmine Appice, and a Led Zeppelin tribute with members of The White, along with Tony Franklin appearing as a guest on occasion. .
Michael traveled for a bit in the summer of '97 staying in Minneapolis and Upstate New York and sat in with Sammy Hagar in Minneapolis when he did the "Marching to Mars" tour.Later in L.A. Michael became friends and made a couple of appearances with Stuart Smith's Heaven and Earth.
One of Michaels great friends and mentors who he met in Arcata at a workshop with his brothers at Humboldt state was singer Carl Anderson who he did a show with in L.A. called "The State Of Mind" on L.Ron Hubbard Way on July 4th 1998, along with Billy Sheehan. In the summer of '98 Michael went to Jacksonville Florida and recorded an album called "Electric Wasteland" by the group "November 67".
Michael is now back in California and has recently made some appearances with Frankie Hannon(Tesla) The Rudy Parris Band, and also performed with members of "War",",Tower of Power" and "Malo" He is also currently writing and recording material with Eric Silva of "The Archaic Terror".The new songs have a Rock/ Reggae/Ska sound and style influenced by artists like; No Doubt,The Police,Bob Marley,Third World and Jimmy Cliff. Striving to be a good example to the youth and the planet and help to bring harmony, joy and love with music.Michaels daughter Brandy Rose and his brother Jozsef plan to record with him in the near future.
